Terrace Talk - National Three North

 

Darlington v Blaydon

 

Second placed Blaydon face a tricky away match at Darlington as they look to maintain second place in the National Three North league table.

 

Darlington were big winners away at Cleckheaton last Saturday and are one of the form sides in the division as they go in search of their fifth consecutive win.

They have more four try bonus points than any other side with 14 and have picked up four losing bonus points in their eight defeats this season.

 

Blaydon need to keep winning with Nuneaton breathing down their necks just three points behind with two games in hand.

They were beaten in their last away match when they went down to Nuneaton at Liberty Way and failed to pick up any bonus points as well.

 

Blaydon were comfortable winners when the sides met at Crow Trees earlier in the season coming through 50-8.  

 

PREDICTION: Tough call will go with Darlington by three points.        

 

 

Hull Ionians v Darlington Mowden Park

 

Eighth placed Hull Ionians entertain ninth placed Darlington Mowden Park just four points clear of the North East side.

 

Hull Ionians have been in poor form of late and slipped out of the top half of the league table.

Last week they were beaten away at promotion chasing Blaydon as they slipped to a third consecutive defeat.

 

Darlington Mowden Park were narrow losers to promotion chasing Nuneaton last Saturday pushing them all the way before going down 19-17.

That defeat saw their three match winning run come to an end but with a losing bonus point they are now within four points of Hull in the table.

 

Darlington Mowden Park were well beaten n the home fixture of this match going down 35-5.   

 

PREDICTION: Tough call will go with DMP by six points.        

 

 

Leicester Lions v Kendal

 

12th placed Leicester Lions entertain bottom of the table Kendal knowing a win could carry them back into the top ten.  

 

The Lions were beaten at Tynedale last Saturday going down to a heavy 45-15 defeat.

They are not in the best of form with just one win in their last five matches.

At Westleigh Park this season they have they have managed just three wins and two draws in their 12 matches.

 

Kendal are still looking for that elusive first win although they have at least go two points on the board after their home win draw with Fylde.

On the road they have lost all 11 matches in the league this season and conceded over 30 points in eight of them.

 

When the sides met at Mint Bridge earlier in the season the Lions ran out comfortable 38-16 winners.

 

PREDICTION: Lions to win by 12 points.        

 

 

New Brighton v Macclesfield

 

Second bottom and already relegated New Brighton entertain 10th placed Macclesfield looking to finish the season with a couple of wins to give them some confidence for next season.

 

New Brighton are bottom of the Form Guide and are the only side to have lost their last six matches in the division.

 

Macclesfield have improved of late with three wins and a draw in their last five matches to climb the league table and were home winners over Kendal last Saturday. .

On the road this season they have managed just two wins and a draw in 11 matches.

 

Macclesfield were 21-13 when the sides met at Macclesfield earlier in the season.

 

PREDICTION: Macclesfield to win by ten points.        

 

 

Nuneaton v Fylde

 

Third placed Nuneaton are at home to seventh placed Fylde looking to maintain the pressure on second placed Blaydon.

 

Nuneaton picked up a narrow away win last week at Darlington Mowden Park and need a good home win this Saturday and preferably a bonus point as well.

After back to back defeats they have put together back to back wins in the last two weeks and need to make it a hat trick on Saturday.

 

Fylde had no game last Saturday after it was called off by New Brighton who could not field a front row.

On the road this season they have picked up four wins and a draw in 11 matches.    

 

When the sides met at Woodlands earlier in the season Nuneaton came out on top winning 29-19. 

 

PREDICTION: Nuneaton to win by 12 points.        

 

 

Preston Grasshoppers v Cleckheaton

 

Fifth placed Preston Grasshoppers entertain 11th placed Cleckheaton looking to reclaim fourth spot if Tynedale lose to leaders Bradford & Bingley at home.

 

Hoppers were beaten last Saturday at Bradford & Bingley and have lost four of their last six matches in the league.

At home they do have a good record with eight wins and a draw in their 11 matches.

 

Cleckheaton were well beaten at home last Saturday by Darlington but have won four of their last six matches to sit sixth in the Form Guide.

On the road this season they have done reasonable well with five wins in their ten matches to date.

 

Hoppers were winners at Moorend when the sides met earlier in the season 19-13.

 

 

PREDICTION: Hoppers to win by ten points.      

 

 

Tynedale v Bradford & Bingley

 

Fourth placed Tynedale entertain leaders Bradford & Bingley defending an excellent home record.

 

Tynedale returned to winning ways last Saturday with a big home win over Leicester Lions after losing at Preston the week before.

They have an excellent home record with nine wins in their ten matches so far this season with only Darlington Mowden Park leaving with a win.

 

The Bees continued on their winning ways last Saturday with a home win over Preston Grasshoppers to maintain their six point lead at the top of the table.

On the road this season they have a good record losing just twice in 11 matches.   

 

When the sides met at Wagon Lane earlier in the season the Yorkshire side were 38-29 winners.

 

PREDICTION: Bees to win by eight points.
