Terrace Talk - National Three North

 

Blaydon v Preston Grasshoppers

 

Second placed Blaydon take on sixth placed Preston Grasshoppers looking to pick up all five points in the race for a top two spot in National Three North.

 

Blaydon are looking for a third consecutive win since losing at Nuneaton a few weeks back.

At Crow Trees this season they have an excellent record with ten wins from their 11 matches and only leaders Bradford & Bingley have left with a win this season.

 

Hoppers have slipped down the league table of late with just one win in their last four matches.

On the road they have picked up four wins and two draws from their 12 matches to date.  

 

Hoppers were winners when the sides met at Lightfoot Green earlier in the season.

 

PREDICTION: Blaydon to win at Crow Trees by eight points.        

 

 

Bradford & Bingley v Leicester Lions

 

Leaders Bradford & Bingley entertain 11th placed Leicester Lions at Wagon Lane looking for all five points to maintain their four point lead at the top of the table.

 

Bradford & Bingley will be keen to return to winning ways after last weeks draw at Tynedale.

The Bees are unbeaten at Wagon Lane this season winning all 10 matches to date

 

The Lions have improved of late with two wins and a draw in their last four matches but on the road have managed just four wins all season in 11 matches.

 

When the sides met at Westleigh Park earlier in the season the Bees left with all five points after a comfortable 57-0 win.

 

 

PREDICTION: Bees to win at Wagon Lane by 15 points.        

 

 

Cleckheaton v Tynedale

 

Fourth placed Tynedale travel to 12th placed Cleckheaton looking to consolidate fourth spot.  

 

Cleckheaton have lost two of their last three but have four wins in their last six matches to sit in 6th place in the Form Guide.

At home this season Cleckheaton have only managed to pick up four wins in 11 matches and have more wins on the road this season.

 

Tynedale have three wins and a draw in their last six matches and will be buoyed from holding leaders Bradford & Bingley to a draw last weeks but were disappointed from letting a 22-7 lead slip.

 

When the sides met at Tynedale earlier in the season the home side were 14-7 winners in a low scoring match.

 

PREDICTION:  Away win by five points for Tynedale at Moorend. .      

 

 

Darlington Mowden Park v Darlington

 

The Darlington derby sees 10th placed Mowden Park entertain their neighbours who are currently fifth in the table.

 

Darlington Mowden Park after three successive wins have slipped to back to back defeats in the league.

At home this season they have managed five wins and a draw from their 12 matches to date.

 

Darlington are looking to return to winning ways after their four match winning run was brought to a holt last weekend as they lost narrowly at home to promotion chasing Blaydon 2-11.   

On the road this season they have only managed four wins and a draw from their 11 matches.  

 

When the sides met at Blackwell Meadows earlier in the season Mowden Park left with a16-9 victory, one of only three defeats Darlington have suffered at home this season.   

 

PREDICTION: Away win by seven points. .      

 

 

Fylde v Hull Ionians

 

Seventh placed Fylde entertain eighth placed Hull Ionians looking to extend their one point advantage over the Yorkshire side.

 

Fylde have just one win in their last four matches and will be keen to finish the season with a couple of wins to guarantee a top half finish.  

At Woodlands this season they have won eight of their 12 matches

 

Ionians after three successive defeats returned to winning ways last Saturday with a home success over Darlington Mowden Park.

On the road they have a poor record this season with just three wins in their 12 matches to date.

 

When the sides met earlier in the season it was a close match with Ionians running out narrow winners 25-24.  

 

PREDICTION:  Home win for Fylde by eight points over Ionians.      

 

 

Kendal v New Brighton

 

Bottom of the table Kendal entertain second bottom New Brighton looking to break their duck for the season.   

 

Kendal will see this as a great opportunity to secure their first win of the season as they contemplate life in North One next season.

Last time out at home they did manage a draw against Fylde to end their 21 match losing run.

 

New Brighton are bottom of the Form Guide with no wins in their last six matches.

On the road this season they have a poor record losing all 11 of their matches.

 

When the sides met at Reeds Lane earlier in the season it was the home side who ran out winners coming through 17-7.

 

PREDICTION:  Tough call but will go for home win by five for Kendal at Mint Bridge.      

 

 

Macclesfield v Nuneaton

 

Promotion chasing Nuneaton travel to ninth placed Macclesfield looking for all five points to keep the pressure on Blaydon and Bradford & Bingley who are above them in the table.

 

Macclesfield are right up near the top of the Form Guide with four wins and a draw in their last six matches as they go in search of a third consecutive win.

At home this season they have won six and drawn one of the 11 matches to date.

 

Nuneaton after suffering back to back defeats have responded with three successive wins to get back on track. They trail Blaydon by two points but have two games in hand on them although they still have to travel to Crow Trees later in the season.  

They trail leaders Bradford & Bingley by six points with one game in hand and still have to go their in the league as well.

 

When the sides met at Liberty Way earlier in the season Nuneaton were 43-33 winners in a high scoring match.

 

PREDICTION: Nuneaton to win by ten points at Macclesfield.
