Terrace Talk - National Two

 

 

Barking v Moseley

 

Leaders Moseley travel to sixth place Barking looking to close in on the National Two league title by taking all five points on offer.

 

Barking are at the wrong end of the Form Guide with just one win in their last six matches the worst record in the division currently.

At home this season they have been reasonable with seven wins in their 12 matches to date.   

 

Moseley lead Waterloo by five points and have won two more matches than their rivals as well. They are joint top of the Form Guide with six wins in their last six matches.

On the road this season they have an excellent record this season with nine wins in 11 matches.    

 

When the sides met at Moseley earlier in the season the home side ran out convincing 47-3 winners.    

 

PREDICTION: Away win by Moseley as the close in on the Championship title.        

 

 

Blackheath v Redruth

 

11th placed Blackheath entertain seventh placed Redruth with both sides looking to return to winning ways.

 

Blackheath have slipped a little of late with just one win in their last four matches although that was a home win against then promotion chasing Esher at the Rectory Field

At home this season they have played 11 times and picked up six wins.

 

Redruth are at the wrong end of the Form Guide with just one win in their last six and were beaten at home last Saturday by Stourbridge. .

On the road this season they have not been the best of travellers with just two wins in 11 matches.

 

When the sides met earlier in the season down in Cornwall Redruth were 30-8 winners.  

 

PREDICTION: Home win by eight points.      

 

 

Launceston v Halifax

 

Fourth placed Launceston entertain ninth placed Halifax at Polson Bridge looking to keep their winning run going.

 

Launceston are looking to make it a hat trick of wins and four unbeaten as they consolidate fourth spot in the table.

At Polson Bridge this season they have an excellent record with eight wins out of 11 matches so far this season.

 

Halifax have improved of late and have three wins in their last five matches and have climbed into the top 10 after spending most of the season in the bottom two or three.

On the road though they do not have the best of records with just two wins and a draw form their 11 matches to date.  

 

When the sides met at Halifax earlier in the season Launceston came away with 1 20-13 victory.  

 

PREDICTION: Home win by seven points.        

 

 

Manchester v Orrell

 

Eighth placed Manchester, take on bottom of the table Orrell at Grove Park on Saturday looking to return to winning ways.

 

Manchester were beaten at Henley Hawks last weekend and will be keen to return to winning ways in their penultimate home match of the season.

At home this season in 11 matches they have won seven and drawn one suffering just three defeats.

 

Orrell are all but down unless they can win their last three matches and Harrogate lose all their and they pick up some bonus points along the way all very unlikely.   

On the road they have yet to pick up a win in 11 matches picking up just two losing bonus points along the way.

 

When the sides met at Edge Hall Road earlier in the season it was a close affair with Manchester just sneaking it 16-13.

 

PREDICTION: Home win by ten points.       

 

 

Stourbridge v Henley Hawks

 

12th placed Stourbridge entertain 10th placed Henley Hawks at Stourton after both sides returned to winning ways last Saturday.

 

Stourbridge after four defeats in five matches are looking to make it back to back wins and with games against Halifax and Orrell are looking to finish the season with four straight wins.

At home they have a poor record with just two wins and a draw from their 11 matches.

 

Henley after three successive defeats returned to winning ways last Saturday with a home win over Manchester and will fancy their chances of back to back wins with Stourbridge’s poor home record.

  

When the sides met at Dry Leas earlier in the season it was the Hawks who ran out winners comfortably 30-5.   

 

PREDICTION: Stourbridge to get home win over Hawks by eight points.       

 

 

Waterloo v Harrogate

 

Second placed and already promoted Waterloo take on second bottom Harrogate at Blundellsands looking to maintain the pressure on leaders Moseley.

 

Waterloo confirmed their return to National One with a comfortable victory over their biggest rivals for the second promotion place with a 41-7 win at Esher.

At home, they have won nine, drawn one and lost just the once, to league leaders Moseley.  

 

Harrogate are all but safe with Orrell needing to win all three of their remaining matches and pick up some bonus points and Harrogate having to lose all three of their remaining matches and pick up no bonus points.   

On the road they do not have a good record overall with just three wins in 11 matches but they have all come in recent weeks.

 

When the sides met at Claro Road earlier in the season it was Waterloo who took the points with a comfortable 32-7 win.

 

PREDICTION: Waterloo to win by 10 points.        

 

 

Wharfedale v Esher

 

Fifth placed Wharfedale entertain third placed Esher with the home side looking to keep ahead of sixth placed Barking who they lead by two points in the table.  

 

Wharfedale are looking to make it four wins in their last six matches with victory in this game.

At Threshfields this season they have a good record with six wins and three draws from their 11 matches to date.

 

Esher have now slipped out of the promotion chase having managed just two wins in their last six matches.

On the road they have picked up seven wins and a draw in their 12 matches to date.

 

When the sides met at Esher earlier in the season it was a comfortable win for the home side 35-11.

 

PREDICTION: Tough call but will go Wharfedale by four points.
