Quins were first on the scoreboard when Adrian Jarvis put over a 3rd minute penalty goal but three minutes later it was all level when Ali Hepher responded for the Blues.
It stayed 3 all till wing Ugo Monye went over in the 18th minutes for an unconverted try. They went further ahead on 25 minutes when Mike Brown on as a replacement for Monye went over and with Jarvis converting they led 15-3. The Blues were over the Quins try line on the half hour with Alex Page, playing on the wing, going over and Hepher converted.
Before the break Quins got two more tries with No 8 Nick Easter and Full back Tom Williams going over and Jarvis converting whilst Flanker Sasha Harding got one back for the Blues with Hepher adding the extras and Quins went in 29-17 ahead.
Early in the second half Jarvis put over a couple of penalty goals before the visitors got a third try with No 8 Shaun Brady going over and Hepher again converting.
Jarvis though kicked another three points before centre Will Greenwood went over for a try on 71 minutes and with Jarvis converting they led 45-24.
The Blues got two more tries in the backs from Liam Roberts and Matt Allen but it was too little too late and Quins took the win.
Coventry 21 (Tries: Johnson 2, Tiueti. Cons: Moore 2, Higgins.).
Cornish Pirates 28 (Tries: McAtee 2, Cowley, Cattle. Cons: Barlow 4.).
The Cornish Pirates guaranteed third place with this away success at Coventry and picked up the four try bonus point along the way.
Rhodri McAtee playing at full back got the Pirates off the mark with a 7th minute try which Tom Barlow converted. They went 4-0 up when flanker Tim Cowley went over and again Barlow converted on 24 minutes.
The home side got right back in the match with a try from wing Kurt Johnson on 33 minutes which James Moore converted and when Johnson went over for a second five minutes later it was all square after Moore added the conversion.
In the second half McAtee got a second try on 46 minutes to see his side go ahead again and Barlow was again on target with the conversion.
But back came Coventry with replacement back David Tiueti going over on 65 minutes and Jon Higgins converted to make it 21 all.
The winning score came in the 67th minute when scrum half Gavin Cattle got the Pirates fourth try and Barlow again converted.

Sedgley park 7 (Try: Hall. Con: Jones.).
Big home win for Plymouth Albion over Sedgley Park running in eight tries too one.
The home side were on the scoreboard in just the third minute when centre Regardt Van Eyk went over for a try and Ed Barnes converted. They doubled the score on 20 minutes when the other centre Keni Fisilau went over and Barnes again converted.
Barnes extended the lead with a 27th minute penalty goal before Albion got their third try on 31 minutes from left wing Nicholas Sestaret and a 22-0 lead.
Park got on the scoreboard in the 36th minute when wing Chris Hall touched down and Phil Jones converted. Before the break though the home side go the try bonus point with right wing Ed Lewsey going over and Barnes converted to make it 29-7.
The second half bought four more tries as Van Eyk, Fisilau and Sestaret went on to complete double and prop Ryan Hopkins scored tries.
Otley 22 (Tries: Dench, Oakes, Sovatabua. Cons: Kitching 2. Pen: Kitching ).
Exeter Chiefs 25 (Tries: Ward, Murdoch, Baxter. Cons: Staniforth 2. Pens: Staniforth 2.).
Exeter Chiefs pulled off an excellent away win at Otley after trailing 22-13 at the break.
It was the Chiefs who took the lead in the 3rd minute when full back Stephen Ward went over for a try and Adam Staniforth converted.
Five minutes later Robin Kitching got Otley off the mark with a penalty goal and four minutes later they were ahead after right wing Kyle Dench touched down an unconverted try for 8-7.
Staniforth gave the Chiefs the lead again with a 19th minute penalty goal but the lead lasted just two minutes before lock Jason Oakes went over and Kitching converted to make it 15-10.
Staniforth pulled three more points back with his second penalty goal but it was Otley who got the final score of the half.
They got a third try in the 37th minute when left wing Waisale Sovatabua went over and Kitching converted for 22-13.
Exeter clawed five points back five minutes into the second half when wing Ali Murdoch went over and they took the lead just before the hour mark when No 8 Richard Baxter touched down and Staniforth converted in what was the final score of the match.
Doncaster 31 (Tries: Grainger, Van Vuuren, Murray, Cook, Lane. Cons: Liley 2, Benson.).
Nottingham 36 (Tries: Kay 3, Hall, Molenaar. Cons: Woodrow 4. Pen: Woodrow.).
Nottingham’s good run continued with and exciting away win at Doncaster in a high scoring match.
The home side were first on the scoreboard when flanker Simon Grainger went over for an unconverted try in the 5th minute.
Nottingham got off the mark five minutes later when Mark Woodrow put over a penalty goal and when he converted a try from winger Josh Kay six minutes later they were 1-5 ahead.
Back came Doncaster with a couple of tries of their own with wing Donovan Van Vuuren and centre Duncan Murray touching down and with Rob Liley converting them both they led 19-10 after 25 minutes. .
By half time though the visitor were in front after Kay completed a hat trick and Woodrow slotted over a penalty goal to make it 22-19.
Nine minutes into the second half and Doncaster were back in front with wing Oliver Cook going over to make it 24-22.
The lead last just a minute before prop Nigel Hall went in and Woodrow converted for 29-24. They got another try four minutes later with centre Tim Molenaar going over and Woodrow again on target to 36-24.
In the 66th minute Doncaster were right back in it when replacement scrum half Llyr Lane went over and Jon Benson converted to get them back within five of Nottingham.
That though was the final score as the visitors took the full five points and Doncaster picked up a couple of bonus points.

After a closely fought first half the Bees pulled away in the second half to win and move off the bottom of the table.
The home side took the lead in the 5th minute when left wing Kenneth Bingham touched down and Blair Feeney converted for 7-0.
Ben Harvey got the visitors off the mark with a 8th minute penalty goal but a minute later Newbury led 12-3 after a try from centre Mark Ireland.
The fast start to the game continued three minutes later when No 8 Will Matthews went over for the first Bees try and Harvey converted to make it 12-10.
David Evans came on for Ben Harvey and slotted over a 38th minute penalty goal to put the Bees in front at half time 13-12.
Evans and Feeney exchanged penalty goals early in the second half before a 48th minute try from fly half Tim Walsh saw the visitors go 23-1 ahead with Evans adding the conversion.
After 53 minutes debutante Kyle Palm went over for the Bees to make it 28-15.
The home side got back in it just after the hour mark with replacement wing Martin Nutt touching down and Feeney converting to make it 28-22. The Bees sealed the win in the 72nd minute when replacement front row man Matt Miles went over and Evans again converted. |
