Manchester signed off their season by defeating the Champions Moseley at Grove Park.
The home side were in front when flanker Danny Collins went over for a 4th minute try and a 5-0 lead.
Back came the Champions with a 16th minute penalty goal and three minutes later took the lead when scrum half Gareth Taylor went over for an unconverted try, and they took the 8-5 lead into the break.
They were on the scoreboard again one minute into the second half when hooker Darren Bick went over for a try and with Greg McDonald converting they were 15-5 ahead.
Manchester though fought back and 10 minutes later scored a second try when fly half Andre Wilson touched down and seven minutes later were level when centre Isaac Richmond went over for the third home try. Wilson got the winning score with a 65th minute penalty goal although Ollie Thomas did have a chance to snatch a draw for Moseley but was off target after coming on as a late replacement.

Henley Hawks 20 (Tries: Burns, Slade, Tibbott. Con: Reeves. Pen: Reeves.).
Waterloo finished their season with a five try display at home to Henley Hawks despite trailing at the break.
The Hawks took the lead when centre Luke Burns went over for a try in the opening minute of the match. Three minutes later and Waterloo were in front with winger Neil Kerfoot going over for his 17th try of the season and Steven Nutt converted. Nutt and Barry Reeves hen exchanged penalty goals before the Hawks went into a 20-10 lead with tries form full back Adam Slade and centre Dave Tibbott. .
Before half time the home side pulled five points back with a try from flanker Dan Palmer. They went ahead five minutes into the second half when centre Freeman Payne went over and Nutt converted for 22-20.
They went on to seal the win with Kerfoot getting a second try and Nutt also crossing the Hawks line.
Wharfedale 25 (Tries: Hodgson, Moon, Doherty, Malherbe. Con: Moon. Pen: Moon. ).
Redruth 15 (Tries: Pedley, Jacques. Con: Donald. Pen: Donald.).
Wharfedale consolidated fifth spot with this home win over Redruth secured all five points running in four tries. .
They took the lead in the 18th minute when Andrew Hodgson went over for an unconverted try.
Five minutes before half time and the visitors were in front when left wing Nathan Pedley touched down and Gavin Donald converted to make it 7-5 which was the half time score.
In the second half it took the home side four minutes to go in front again with Steven Moon putting over a penalty goal before he added a try in the 58th minute to make it 13-7.
Donald pulled three points back with a penalty goal but two tries in three minutes saw the home side go into a winning lead with scrum half James Doherty and centre Chris Malherbe touching down and Moon adding a conversion to make it 25-15 after 73 minutes.
Esher 55 (Tries: Hallett, Clouston, Marsh 2, Wilkins, Blakeburn, Smith, Maddox. Cons: Hallett 6. Pen: Hallett.).
Harrogate 15 (Tries: Aspinall, Parsons. Con: Aspinall. Pen: Aspinall.).
Esher ran out comfortable winners over Harrogate after a fairly even opening half hour.
Esher were off the mark in the 2nd minute when fly half Neil Hallett went over for a try and slotted over the conversion.
Seven minutes later and the visitors were level when scrum half Michael Aspinall went over and added the conversion.
Hallett and Aspinall then exchanged penalty goals before two tries later in the half saw the home side pull away into a 24-10 lead with centre Toby Clouston and scrum half Michael Marsh going in and Hallett converting them both.
They continued to extend their lead with three more tries in the opening 24 minutes of the second half before the visitors managed a second try through right wing Stephen Parsons.
Esher wrapped up the win with two more tries in the final few minutes.
Blackheath 38 (Tries: Biljon, Webber, Bason, Bull, Dewale, Aseme. Cons: Neale 4. ).
Orrell 21 (Tries: Briers, Caslake, Hall. Cons: Mason 3.).
Blackheath ended the season with a six try display against bottom of the table Orrell who managed three tries themselves.
Three tries in the opening half hour saw the home side go into a 19-0 lead with tries form scrum half Harvey Biljon, hooker Rob Webber and second row Tom Bason with Frankie Neale putting over a couple of penalty goals.
Orrell pulled seven points back when right wing Chris Briers touched down and Simon Mason converted. But before half time the home side had the four try bonus point in the bag with flanker James Bull going over and Neale converted for a 26-7 half time lead.
The game was over in the opening 10 minutes of the second half with two more tries from flanker Neil Dewale and No 8 Ken Aseme to go into a commanding 38-7 lead.
Orrell did get the final two tries of the match but the game was already lost and Blackheath took five points.
Launceston 34 (Tries: Sprangle 2, Reed 2. Cons: Alred 4. Pens: Alred 2.).
Barking 28 (Tries: Eaton, Kafatolu, Pilat, Ah Ling. Cons: Pilat 4.).
High scoring end of season fayre with the home side coming out on top with both sides scoring four tries.
Stuart Alred kicked the home side ahead with a 14th minute penalty goal. Six minutes later and Barking were in front after a try from scrum half Andy Eaton converted by Corrado Pilat. Two tries form flanker Wayne Sprangle turned the game round and with Alred converting both the home side were 17-7 ahead. The visitors were next to score when right wing Mounga Kafatolu went in on 32 minutes and Pilat converted.
Late in the half both sides got further tries as prop Wayne Reed went over for the home side and then Pilat touched down for the visitors and Launceston went in 24-21 ahead.
Three minutes into the second half and the visitors were in front with a try from wing Felise Ah Ling and Pilat again converted for 28-24.
It took the home side till the 65th minute to regain the lead with Reed completing a double to make it 31-28 before Alred sealed the win with a 74th minute penalty goal.
Stourbridge 36 (Tries: Handley, Mitchell, Freeman, Homer 2. Cons: Bressington 4. Pen: Bressington. ).
Halifax 33 (Tries: Hughes, Solomi 2, Marns. Cons: Canning 2. Pens: Canning 3.).
Stourbridge won this high scoring match narrowly in a match which saw nearly all the scoring in the first half.
The home side was in front in the opening minute when scrum half Toby Handley went over for a try and Ali Bressington converted to make it 7-0. Three minutes later and it was all square with centre Richard Hughes going over and Aaron Canning converting. In the 7th minute the home side got their second try with centre Cameron Mitchell touching down and Bressington again on target for 14-7.
Canning pulled three points back with a penalty goal but winger Martin Freeman got the third home try in the 11th minute and it was 19-10.
Flanker Dan Solomi got the second Halifax try to make it 19-15 after just 15 minutes.
The home side had the bonus point in the bag on 20 minutes when second row Simon Homer went over and Bressington converted to make it 26-15.
Canning with two penalties and Bressington with one added the next nine points as Stourbridge led 29-21 after 36 minutes.
Both sides scored tries in added time with Solomi getting a second for the visitors and Homer a second for the home side who led 36-28 at the break. In the second half there was just the one score with Halifax wing Oliver Marns going over on the hour mark to make it a three point game for the final 20 minutes which remained scoreless. |
