Terrace Talk - National Three South

Cinderford v Clifton

Second bottom Clifton take on ninth placed Cinderford knowing a win could take them within a win of safety.

Cinderford are looking to end a three match losing run and return to wining ways which saw them put together a three match winning run not so long ago.

At home this season in seven matches they have picked up three wins and lost four matches. They have only managed a four try bonus point once which is the lowest total in the division along with bottom club Chinnor.

Clifton are looking for back to back wins for the first time this season as they look to try and climb towards safety which is currently seven points away.

On the road this season they have lost six out of seven with their only win coming at Hertford. They have picked up losing bonus point though on four occasions and two four try bonus points.

At Clifton earlier in the season Cinderford were 25-16 winners.

Prediction:  Cinderford to sneak it over an improving Clifton side by five points.

Dings Crusaders v Bridgwater & Albion

Eighth placed Dings Crusaders take on seventh placed Bridgwater & Albion knowing a win could see them join the visitors on 30 points if they were to secure all five points and stop Albion picking up any bonus points.

Dings Crusaders have lost two of their last three matches and are in the bottom half of the Form Guide.

At home this season they have four wins and a draw from their seven matches with only Hertford and Southend leaving with wins.

Bridgwater & Albion have put together back to back wins and a home win here would make it three on the bounce, there best run of the season.

On the road they have picked up three wins in their seven matches with victories at Cinderford, Clifton and Hertford.

Bridgwater & Albion were 19-9 when the sides met at College Grove earlier in the season.

Prediction: Home win for Dings over Bridgwater & Albion by eight points.

Havant v Rosslyn Park

Fifth placed Havant will be looking to extend their good recent form against 10th placed Rosslyn Park at Hooks Lane.

Havant are looking for a fourth consecutive league win to maintain their great recent form which has seen them close to within five points of second placed Lydney.

At home this season Havant have five out of seven with only Lydney and Canterbury leaving with all the points.

Rosslyn Park know a win here could take them as high as eighth on the league table which six weeks ago looked virtually impossible.

Park on the road have not done well this season managing just two wins in seven matches with successes at Chinnor and Hertford.

When the sides met earlier in the season Havant thrashed Park at Roehampton 39-3.

Prediction: Havant home win by eight points over Rosslyn Park at Hooks Lane.

Hertford v Chinnor

Huge came for two struggling sides with both desperate for a win at bottom of the table Chinnor travel to fourth bottom Hertford.

Hertford are going through a dreadful run at the moment and have dropped to within two points of the relegation zone and will see this as a means to getting a win and some confidence back.

At home this season they have the worst record in the division with just the one win and that was early in the season. Since then they have lost six on the bounce to plummet down the table.

Chinnor have lost their last four matches and need to win here really to try and keep in touch with the sides above them in the table. They are currently eight points adrift of 11th placed Hertford and win here could well have that deficit.

On the road though they have lost all five of their matches, four of them heavily, with their best result being a five point loss at North Walsham.

When the sides met earlier in the season, Hertford left with a 34-30 victory over Chinnor sneaking it late on.

Prediction: Hertford to win by seven at Highfields over Chinnor.

North Walsham v Southend

Must win game for North Walsham as the sixth placed side entertain the leaders looking to try and stay in the race for a top two spot.

After three defeats in their last five matches, North Walsham find themselves in their lowest position for years and are eight points adrift of second placed Lydney.

At home this season they have won six out of seven with their only defeat coming at the hands of Lydney narrowly 18-17.

Southend now have an eight point lead at the top of the National Three South league table and top the Form Guide with six wins in their last six matches.

On the road this season they have come unstuck just the once when suffering a surprise defeat at the hands of Old Patesians.

When the sides met earlier in the season at Warners Bridge Southend were 41-29 winners.

Prediction: Away win for Southend over North Walsham by four points.

Old Patesians v Lydney

12th placed Old Patesians take on second placed Lydney at Everest Road in need of a win to climb out of the relegation zone.

Old Patesians are on 20 points and trail Hertford by two points in the table but with no wins in their last six matches will have to turn their form round dramatically to get something from this match.

They have done reasonable well at home with three wins in six matches and in two of their defeats they have picked up losing bonus points apart form the game against North Walsham.

Lydney are up to second after their win over Westcombe Park last Saturday and will be looking to cement that position with a win at Everest Road. They have now put three consecutive wins together after a poor spell when they lost two out of three.

On the road they have won four out of seven with defeats at Cinderford and Clifton, who are both in the bottom half of the table, and Southend where they were thrashed 81-16.

Lydney ran out 44-20 winners when sides met earlier in the season at Regentsholme.

Prediction: Lydney to win at Everest Road by 10 points. .

Westcombe Park v Canterbury

Third placed Westcombe Park will be looking to get their season back on track as they entertain fourth placed Canterbury, one of the Form sides in the division.

Westcombe Park have lost two of their last three matches to slip down to third in the table. At home this season though they have a great record with six wins in their seven matches and only Southend leaving with the win.

Canterbury are second only to Southend in the Form Guide with five wins on the bounce which has seen them climb to fourth in the table and within striking distance of Combe who are just three points ahead of them in the table.

Earlier in the season at Merton Lane Westcombe Park were 16-3 winners.

Prediction: Tough call this one will have to go away win by four points.
