Terrace Talk - National Three North

 

 

Cleckheaton v Macclesfield  

 

12th placed Cleckheaton entertain seventh placed Macclesfield at Moorend looking to return to winning ways.   

 

Cleckheaton managed a draw last time out at Morley which saw their four match losing run come to an end. 

They have managed just two wins at home this season against Darlington MP and Orrell whilst losing their other four games at Moorend.

 

Macclesfield after a three match losing run are now one win away from a three match winning run which has seen them climb the league table.

On the road Macclesfield have played seven times and managed just two wins against Orrell and Hull Ionians.

 

Earlier in the season Macclesfield were 22-18 home winners.

 

Prediction:  Away win for Macclesfield by six points at Moorend.             

 

 

 

Darlington Mowden Park v Blaydon  

 

Leaders Blaydon travel to Mowden Park for this North East derby.

 

Darlington Mowden Park are looking for back to back wins. At home this season they have a good record win six wins from six matches including wins over top four sides Fylde and Tynedale.    

 

Blaydon are looking to maintain top spot in the table with an away win at DMP. After losing at home to Tynedale Blaydon will be keen to get back to winning ways and stay top of the table.

On the road they have a good record with five wins in six matches and their only defeat coming at Webb Ellis Road against Rugby Lions. 

 

Blaydon were comfortable winners at Crow Trees earlier in the season 52-24.

 

Prediction: Blaydon to return to winning ways with six point win.            

 

 

 

Hull Ionians v Morley  

 

11th placed Hull Ionians take on ninth placed Morley looking to try and move well clear of the relegation zone.   

 

Hull Ionians need to win their home games to try and keep out of the relegation zone now they have moved out of it. So far at home this season they have done poorly winning just once in six matches when beating Cleckheaton 10-5.   

 

Morley are now seven points clear of the relegation zone and looking to move even further clear with their improved form which has seen them with two and draw one of their last four matches.

On the road they have not done well this season picking up just one win in six matches when beating Cleckheaton early in the season.

 

Morley were 19-13 winners at Scratched Lane earlier in the season.

 

Prediction: Home win for Hull Ionians by eight points over Morley.            

 

 

 

Orrell v Leicester Lions   

 

Bottom of the table Orrell entertain second bottom Leicester Lions looking to record their first win of the season.  

 

Orrell are still looking for their first win although last time out at Edge Hall Road they were one point losers to Darlington 30-29. 

They have lost all six matches at home picking up just three bonus points, two losing bonus points and one four try bonus point.

 

The Lions are at the wrong end of the Form Guide with two wins in their last six matches.

On the road they have lost all six matches to date this season picking up just the one losing bonus point at Morley where they lost 16-14.

 

Leicester Lions were 21-13 winners at Westleigh Park earlier in the season.

 

Prediction: Orrell no home wins Lions no away wins something has got to give.  Tough call but will go Lions by five points but Orrell could get first win of season here.             

 

 

 

Preston Grasshoppers v Darlington  

 

Fifth placed Preston Grasshoppers entertain eighth placed Darlington at Lightfoot Green looking to return to winning ways.  

 

Hoppers after back to back wins went down to a defeat last time out to Fylde at Woodlands and are six points of a play off place.

In six matches at Lightfoot Green this season they have four wins and a draw along with just the one defeat which was against Hull Ionians.

 

Darlington were beaten at Morley last Saturday as they slipped to successive defeats after a three match winning run but remain eight points clear of the relegation zone. .

On the road this season they have picked up just two wins in six matches with victories at Hull Ionians and Orrell.

 

Preston Grasshoppers were 27-24 winners at Darlington earlier in the season.

 

Prediction:  Hoppers to win by eight points against Darlington at Lightfoot Green. .           

 

 

 

Rugby Lions v West Park St Helens  

 

Second placed Rugby Lions take on 10th placed West Park St Helens looking for back to back wins and try and close the gap on leaders Blaydon.    

 

Rugby Lions are looking to get back on a winning run after winning last time out at Leicester Lions after a two match losing run.

At home this season they have a really good record with only one defeat in seven matches that was a 31-27 loss against Preston Grasshoppers.

 

West Park St Helens are looking to end a three match losing run which has seen them drop down the table and they are just four points clear of the relegation zone. 

West Park have a dreadful away record and in six away days have picked up just the one win when beating Cleckheaton 21-12.

 

West Park St Helens were 34-25 winners when the sides met at Redrocks earlier in the season. 

 

Prediction:  Lions to win at Webb Ellis Road by 10 points.            

 

 

 

Tynedale v Fylde  

 

Fourth placed Tynedale entertain third placed Fylde looking to move above them in the league table.  

 

Tynedale are looking for a third straight win to move above Fylde in the league table. 

At home this season they have an excellent record since losing to Blaydon first time out, since then they have won five in a row.

  

Fylde are top of the Form Guide with six wins in their last six matches which has helped them climb to third place in the table.

On the road Fylde have played six times and lost twice at Preston Grasshoppers and Darlington Mowden Park.

 

This match ended as a 14 all draw earlier in the season.

 

Prediction:  Tynedale to win narrowly by five points against Fylde.
