Terrace Talk - National Three South

Bridgwater & Albion v North Walsham

Seventh placed Bridgewater & Albion take on sixth placed North Walsham whom they trail by nine points.

Albion are unbeaten in three although last time out they drew away at Dings Crusaders 11 all.

At home this season they have played just five times winning three whilst losing to Southend and Westcombe Park, two of the top three sides in the division.

North Walsham are looking to avoid a fourth consecutive league defeat as they sit at the wrong end of the Form Guide with just two wins in their last six matches.

On the road they have a picked up three wins in their six matches as well as losing three times.

North Walsham were 32-18 winners when the sides met at Scottow earlier in the season.

Prediction: Tough call but will go with narrow four point home win.

Canterbury v Havant

Fourth paced Havant take of fifth placed Canterbury as two of the form sides in the division meet.

Canterbury saw their long unbeaten run come to an end last time out when they were beaten by Westcombe Park throwing away a 24-3 lead.

At home this season they have a good record with five wins out of six matches and only Westcombe Park leaving with a win and that was early in the season 16-3.

Havant are looking for a fifth straight win as they look to try and catch third placed Westcombe Park.

On the road Havant have played six times and have won three and lost three with wins at Clifton, Old Patesians and Rosslyn Park.

Canterbury were big winners early in the season when the sides met at Hooks Lane 47-31.

Prediction: Another tough call but will go with home advantage and five point Canterbury win.

Chinnor v Cinderford

Bottom of the table Chinnor entertain 10th placed Cinderford looking for a win as they try and climb of the bottom of the table.

Chinnor have lost five in a row now and only managed two wins all season.

At home this season they have played seven times winning two and drawing one. The wins were against Clifton and Old Patesians and they got a draw against Dings Crusaders.

Cinderford after a three match winning run have slipped in recent weeks and have now lost three in a row.

On the road they have managed just two wins in six matches with victories at Clifton and Old Patesians.

Cinderford were 32-7 winners when the two sides met earlier in the season.

Prediction:  Away win for Cinderford by eight points at Chinnor.

Clifton v Dings Crusaders

Second bottom Clifton take on eight placed Dings Crusaders looking for a win to keep them in touch with the sides above them in the table as they battle to try and climb out of the relegation zone.

Clifton ended a four match losing run last time out with a win away at Hertford. At home this season they have managed just the one win although it was against second placed Lydney 40-34.

Dings Crusaders showing patchy form this season and are just six points clear of the relegation zone. On the road they have a poor record with a draw and five defeats from their six matches, the draw coming at Chinnor.

When the sides met earlier in the season at Lockleaze Dings were narrow 22-17 winners.

Prediction:  Clifton to secure six point home win over Dings Crusaders.

Lydney v Hertford

Second placed Lydney entertain ninth placed Hertford at Regentsholme looking to consolidate second spot and maybe close in on the leaders if Westcombe Park can get something from Southend.

Lydney are looking for a fifth straight win as they look to try and close the eight point gap on leaders Southend. At home this season they have done well winning all six matches including a good 23-19 win over Westcombe Park.

Hertford managed a win last time out to end a poor run of form and move six points clear of the relegation zone.

On the road this season they have a reasonable record with three wins and three defeats, the wins coming at Chinnor, Cinderford and Dings Crusaders.

Lydney were 44-23 winners at Hertford earlier in the season.

Prediction: Home win for Lydney by 12 points over Hertford.

Rosslyn Park v Old Patesians

11th placed Rosslyn Park take on 12th placed Old Patesians with both sides seeing this as a must win game.

Park are in the top half of the Form Guide table with four wins in their last six matches and a win here could take them 8/9 points clears of Old Patesians and the relegation zone.

At home they have played six times and have a 3/3 record although they have won their last three at home.

Old Patesians are bottom of the Form Guide and the only team without a win in their last six matches but a win here could move them out of the relegation zone.

On the road they have a terrible record losing all seven matches but in four of these they have picked up a losing bonus point.

Old Patesians were 29-20 winners in this fixture earlier in the season.

Prediction: Home win for Park against Old Patesians by 10 points.

Southend v Westcombe Park

Game of the day see leaders Southend entertain third placed Westcombe Park.

Southend top the Form Guide as the only team with six wins in their last six matches.

They are eight points clear at the top of the table and 10 points clear of Combe so a win here could see them 14/15 points clear of them.

At home they are unbeaten with six straight wins although they have given up losing bonus points to Clifton and Havant.

Combe have slipped a little of late and are 2/2 in their last four matches. They trail second placed Lydney by two points but could find that 6/7 points if they can’t get anything out of this match.

On the road they have won three and drawn one of their six matches coming unstuck at Lydney and Havant.

Earlier in the season when the sides met at Goddington Dene Southend left with the points in a closely fought high scoring match 42-38 in which Combe picked up two bonus points.

Prediction:  Tough call but will go Southend by seven points.
