Blaydon v Rugby Lions  

 

Leaders Blaydon entertain third placed Rugby Lions at Cross Trees looking to keep top spot.    

 

Blaydon returned to winning ways last Saturday with a narrow away win at Darlington Mowden Park but saw their lead cut to two points at the top of the table.

At home Blaydon have won six out of eight matches losing to Preston Grasshoppers and Tynedale.

 

Rugby Lions were narrow 7-3 winners at home to West Park St Helens last Saturday as they put together back to back wins after back to back defeats.

On the road they have played seven times with four wins and three defeats, the defeats were at Fylde, Tynedale and West Park.   

 

When these two sides met earlier in the season Rugby Lions were 42-31 winners.

 

Prediction:  Home win for Blaydon by nine points over Rugby Lions at Crow Trees.              

 

 

 

Darlington v Tynedale    

 

Second placed Tynedale travel to ninth placed Darlington looking to take all five points and keep the pressure on leaders Blaydon who have a tough match at home to Rugby Lions.  

 

Darlington are looking to end a run of three defeats which has seen them drawn into the relegation battle, they are now just four points clear of the zone.

At home they have played eight matches winning four and losing four.

 

Tynedale are looking for a fourth straight win to keep the pressure on leaders Blaydon who they now trail by just two points. 

On the road this season they have played eight times winning five and drawing one with defeats at Darlington Mowden Park and Morley.

 

Tynedale were 25-13 home winners when these two sides met earlier in the season.

 

Prediction:  Away win for Tynedale in this North East derby against Darlington by eight points.            

 

 

 

Fylde v Darlington Mowden Park  

 

Fourth placed Fylde take on sixth placed Darlington Mowden Park looking to return to winning ways.

 

Fylde saw there winning run come to an end last week at Tynedale and will be keen to get back to winning ways at Woodlands this Saturday.  

At home this season Fylde have won six times, drawn once, against Tynedale, and lost once against Blaydon.

 

Mowden Park are looking to do the double over Fylde but they need to improve their away form which has not been good. So far this season they have played eight times losing six winning one and drawing one. The win was against West Park and the draw against Preston Grasshoppers. 

 

Darlington Mowden Park were comfortable 28-13 winners when the sides met earlier in the season.

 

Prediction: Interesting one this but will go with Fylde at home by 10 points.              

 

 

 

Leicester Lions v West Park St Helens  

 

12th placed Leicester Lions entertain 11th placed West Park St Helens who they trail by just a point in the league table.  

 

The Lions are looking to make it three wins in four matches as they look to climb away from the relegation zone.

At home the Lions have a good record with five wins in eight matches with only Cleckheaton, Rugby Lions and Tynedale leaving with wins.

 

West Park St Helens are looking to end a four match losing run which has seen they drop down to just a point above the relegation zone.  

On the road they have a poor record with just one win in seven matches when they beat Cleckheaton 21-12.

 

When these two sides met at Redrocks earlier in the season Park were convincing 55-20 winners.

 

Prediction: Tough call this one will go away win by three points.              

 

 

 

Macclesfield v Hull Ionians  

 

Seventh placed Macclesfield entertain 10th placed Hull Ionians looking for back to back wins.  

 

Macclesfield after a two match winning run were beaten at Cleckheaton 19-13. At home this season they have won five out of seven matches slipping to defeats against Fylde and Preston Grasshoppers. 

 

Hull Ionians are looking to make it three straight wins as they look to continue to climb the league table, although they are still only two points above the relegation zone. .

On the road this season they have done well with four wins in eight matches with wins at Darlington, Orrell, Preston and West Park.

 

Macclesfield were 19-13 winners Hull Ionians earlier in the season.

 

Prediction: Home win for Macclesfield over Ionians by nine points.             

 

 

 

Orrell v Cleckheaton  

 

Bottom of the table Orrell entertain second bottom Cleckheaton still looking for that first elusive win of the season.

 

Orrell are still looking for that first win of the season after they suffered their 15th straight defeat at home to Leicester Lions 31-0. At home they have lost all seven matches to date this season.   

 

Cleckheaton returned to winning ways last week with a 19-13 home win over Macclesfield following on from a draw at Morley before that.

On the road they have picked up two wins and a draw in their eight matches. The wins were against Darlington and Leicester Lions and they drew at Morley.

 

When these two sides met earlier in the season Cleckheaton were 53-28 winners.  

 

Prediction:  Away won for Cleckheaton by four points at Orrell.              

 

 

 

Morley v Preston Grasshoppers  

 

Fifth placed Preston grasshoppers travel to eighth placed Morley looking to build on their improved recent form.

 

Morley may be eighth in the league table but they are only four points clear of the relegation zone.

At home this season they have done reasonable well in their eight matches with five wins and a draw with only Blaydon and Rugby Lions leaving with wins. 

 

Hoppers have won three and drawn one of their last five matches after a poor spell.  

On the road this season Hoppers have a good record with five wins in their eight matches losing at Fylde, Leicester and Tynedale.

 

Preston Grasshoppers were 25-12 when the sides met at Lightfoot Green earlier in the season.

 

Prediction: Away win for Hoppers at Morley by six points.
