In at the Corner - National Three North

Darlington Mowden Park 29 (Tries: Buckley 2 (19, 41), Kerr (26), Farrar (30). Cons: Breen 3. Pen: Breen (54).       

Macclesfield 11 (Try: Allen (45). Pen: Winney (3). DG: Winney (22).     

Darlington Mowden Park move up a place in the table after this win over Macclesfield taking all five points on offer.   

Macc were first on the scoreboard when Charles Winney put over a 3rd minute penalty goal. The lead lasted till the 19th minute when the home hooker Shaun Buckley touched down and Michael Breen converted. Winney pulled three points back three minutes later with a drop goal.

Two tries in four minutes put the home side in control at 21-6 after half an hour with tries from centre Gareth Kerr and fly half Lewis Farrar and Breen converting them both.

They had the try bonus point secured in the opening minute of the second half to make it 26-6.

Four minutes later and the visitors were over the home try line with hooker Peter Allan touching down. Breen got the games final score with Breen putting over a penalty goal.

   

Preston Grasshoppers 54 (Tries: Viney (6), C Steel (11), Flynn (61), Morton (67), Bailey (72), Wilson (79). Cons: Bailey 2, Flynn. Pens: Bailey 2 (41, 54).     

Cleckheaton 15 (Tries: Waterhouse (22), Akroyd (47). Con: Akroyd. Pen: Akroyd (40).       

Hoppers take all five points with this comfortable home win over struggling Cleckheaton after a tight first half which saw the home side go in 12-10 ahead. 

Full back Oliver Viney got the home side off the mark with a try in the 6th minute and Paul Bailey converted. They went 12-0 ahead on 11 minutes with second row Craig Steel going over. 

Cleckheaton did not crumble and were over the home try line on 23 minutes when flanker James Waterhouse touched down and flanker Oliver Akroyd converted before putting over a penalty goal on 40 minutes to make it a two point game.

Bailey put over a penalty goal in the opening minute of the second half but six minutes later it was all square with Akroyd going over for a try. Bailey put the home side ahead again with a penalty goal on 54 minutes before they cut loose in the final quarter with four unanswered tries. 

  

Rugby Lions 19 (Tries: Glackin (39), Con: Hawken. Pens: Hawken 3 (11, 42, 46). DG: Glackin 80).     

Morley 17 (Tries: Murray (24), Hopton (62), Challinor (69). Con: Boyd.)     

Rugby Lions stay two points behind second placed Blaydon after this narrow home win over Morley.

James Hawken put the home side 3-0 ahead on 11 minutes with a penalty goal. The visitors took the lead though on 24 minutes when centre Neil Murray went over for an unconverted try.

Late in the half the Lions regained the lead with a try from fly half Peter Glackin and Hawken added the extras.

Early in the second half two Hawken penalty goals saw them increase their lead to 16-5.

Morley responded well and regained the lead with tries form No 8 David Hopton and lock Matt Challinor and Glen Boyd added a conversion to make it 17-16 after 69 minutes.

The Lions won the match on 80 minutes when Glackin put over a drop goal.   

 

West Park St Helens 23 (Tries: Soutar (3), Henwood (14), Briers (58). Con: Soutar. Pens: Soutar 2 (24, 52).     

Darlington 24 (Tries: Davis (9), L Richardson (36), Goddard (40), Lineton (42). Cons: Rayner 2.      

Huge away win for Darlington as they move above West Park in the table and out of the relegation zone.  

West Park were first on the scoreboard with a try on 3 minutes from right wing Andrew Soutar and a 5-0 scoreline.

Six minutes later the visitors were in front when full back Lee Davis went over and Charles Rayner converted.

Five minutes later West Park were back in front with a try form flanker Matt Henwood and they led 10-7.

Soutar increased the home sides lead on 24 minutes with a penalty goal to make it 13-7.

Two tries late in the half saw Darlington go in 17-13 ahead with tries form left wing Lee Richardson and flanker Rob Goddard. Two minutes into the second half and they had the try bonus point secured as centre Alex Lineton went over and Rayner put over the conversion to make it 24-13.

By the hour mark the home side were right back in it with Soutar putting over a penalty goal and then converting a try from centre Stephen Briers to make it a one point game.

That though was the end of the scoring and the visitors took the win. .  

 

Blaydon 15 (Tries: Fenby (6), J Kyle (50). Con: Mellalieu. Pen: Mellalieu (57). .     

Fylde 6 (Pens: Armstrong 2 (11, 38)    

Blaydon slipped four points behind Tynedale at the top of the table after failing to pick up the four try bonus point in this home win over Fylde.

Winger Andrew Fenby put the home side ahead with a sixth minute try and a 5-0 lead. But by half time the visitors were leading with fly half John Armstrong putting over a couple of penalty goals.    

10 minutes into the second half and Blaydon were in front with a try from scrum half James Kyle and Fly half Anthony Mellalieu converted. He then put over a 57th minute penalty goal in what was the final score of the match.

 

Tynedale 102 (Tries: Vickers (3), C Johnson 2 (8, 13), J Harrison (9), Massey 3 (15, 35, 49), Scott (17), Beasley 3 (26, 39, 61), Samson (45), Williams (54), Andrew Murray 2 (66, 76), Duncan (70). Cons: Belgian 11.).      

Orrell 0       

Tynedale move another point clear at the top of the table after this 16 try demolition of bottom of the table Orrell. Leading the way with hat tricks were full back Will Massey and Gavin Beasley and double for wing Cameron Johnson and No 8 Andrew Murray.    

The home side were 59-0 ahead at the break.

 

Hull Ionians 17 (Tries: D Hague (15), Greene (22), Cawthorn (37). Con: Birch.       

Leicester Lions 20 (Tries: Penalty try (40), Gillett (62). Cons: Boden 2. Pens: Boden 2 (8, 51) )      

The big battle at the bottom of the table went the way of the visitors as Leicester Lions left with a valuable win and moved above their opponents in the table.

Jon Boden put the Lions ahead with an eighth minute penalty goal.

In the 15th minute the home side were ahead with flanker Daniel Hague going over and Karl Birch converting. Scrum half James Greene and centre Mike Cawthorn went over for tries as the home side went 17-3 ahead. The visitors got back in it in the closing minutes of the half with the referee awarding them a penalty try and Boden converting to make it 17-10 at half time.

Boden pulled three points back on 51 minutes and they sealed the win when flanker James Gillett went over and Boden converted.
