Terrace Talk - National Three South

Canterbury v Southend

Third placed Canterbury entertain leaders Southend at Merton Lane looking to continue their good recent form.

Canterbury are one of the form sides in the division with four wins on the bounce after suffering back to back defeats.

At home they have a good record with seven wins in nine matches coming unstuck against Havant and Westcombe Park.

Leaders Southend have a seven point lead at the top of the table with just seven matches remaining. They have slipped up twice in the last five matches and will need to be at their best to defeat Canterbury.

Southend were 31-16 winners when the sides met earlier in the season.

Prediction:  Home win for Canterbury by four points over leaders Southend.

Havant v Cinderford

Fifth placed Havant entertain eighth placed Cinderford looking to maintain their excellent recent form.

Havant have won five of their last six matches and are just two points off third place.

At Hooks Lane this season they have played ten times in the league this season and won eight losing only to Lydney and Southend.

Cinderford after a three match winning run have slipped to back to back defeats in recent weeks to slip out of the top half of the table. On the road they have played nine times and have picked up four wins along the way.

Cinderford were 18-10 winners when the sides met earlier in the season.

Prediction: Home win for Havant at Hooks Lane by nine points over Cinderford.

Hertford v North Walsham

11th placed Hertford entertain sixth placed North Walsham in need of a win to try and move away from the relegation zone

Hertford have managed just two wins in their last six matches and are now just a point clear of the relegation zone.

At home this season they have ten times and managed just three wins.

North Walsham are at the wrong end of the Form Guide with just two wins in the last six matches and have slipped to sixth place and ten points adrift of fifth place.

On the road they have picked up four wins in eight matches.

North Walsham were 24-12 winners at Scottow earlier this season.

Prediction:  Both sides out of form but will go with home win by three points.

Lydney v Clifton

Huge match for both sides as 4th placed Lydney take on third bottom Clifton with both sides needing the win for differing reasons.

Lydney were beaten at Bridgwater & Albion last Saturday which severely dented their top two aspirations.

They have dropped to fourth in the table and are eight points off second place but do have a game in hand.

Clifton are up in 4th place in the Form Guide after their recent run which has seen them win four and draw one of their last six matches. They are now within striking distance of both Hertford and Rosslyn Park whom they trail by a point and two points respectively.

Clifton were home winners in this fixture earlier in the season 40-34.

Prediction: Home win for Lydney by five points as they look to return to winning ways.

Old Patesians v Chinnor

Basement battle as bottom of the table Chinnor travel to second bottom Old Patesians with both sides joint bottom of the Form Guide as well with now wins in their last six matches. .

Old Patesians are 11 points form safety and have to win this match to have any serious chance of escaping the drop.

Chinnor are now in very serious trouble and find themselves 17 points form safety and need a huge turnaround in form to have a chance of climbing the table.

Chinnor were narrow winners when the sides met earlier in the season winning 20-19.

Prediction: Home win for Old Patesians by nine points over Chinnor at Everest Road.

Rosslyn Park v Bridgwater & Albion

Eighth placed Bridgwater & Albion travel to 10th placed Rosslyn Park looking to continue their good recent run.

Park are looking to return to winning ways after back to back defeats which has drawn them back into the relegation battle. They are now just two points clear of Clifton and third bottom.

Bridgwater & Albion are third in the Form Guide after four wins and a draw in their last five matches. They are in the top half of the table but 11 points behind sixth place North Walsham.

Bridgwater & Albion were comfortable winners 30-3 when the sides met earlier in the season.

Prediction:  Home win for Park by five points against Albion.

Westcombe Park v Dings Crusaders

Westcombe Park are top of the Form Guide with five wins in their last six matches.

At home they have an excellent record with nine wins in ten matches and only leaders Southend have left with a win.

Dings Crusaders are looking to build on last weeks win at home to North Walsham and move further away from the relegation zone. On the road though this season they have a poor record with no wins in nine matches and they only have a draw to show for their efforts.

This match ended as a 20 all draw when the sides met at Lockleaze earlier in the season.

Prediction:  Home win for Combe over Dings by eight points at Goddington Dene.
