Terrace Talk - National Three North

Blaydon v Morley

Second placed Blaydon entertain ninth placed Morley knowing they must win to keep up the chase on Tynedale and keep ahead of the chasing sides.

Blaydon after back to back defeats have put together back to back wins but are only two points clear of third placed Preston Grasshoppers.

In ten home matches this season at Crow Trees they have picked up eight wins losing twice to Tynedale and Preston Grasshoppers.

Morley are now eight points clear of the relegation zone with six matches remaining. On the road they have a poor record with just win in nine matches and that was very early in the season at Cleckheaton. In the eight defeats they have managed just two losing bonus points.

Blaydon were narrow winners when the sides met earlier in the season coming back to win 32-29.

Prediction: .Home win for Blaydon by eight points as they look to keep the pressure on leaders Tynedale.

Cleckheaton are 11 points form safety and need to win this match to try and claw back that deficit. They have though not won in five matches and have lost four on the bounce since drawing with Orrell.

On the road they have a picked up two wins and two draws in their ten matches.

Cleckheaton were 25-11 winners over Darlington Mowden Park when the sides met at Moorend earlier in the season.

Fylde are in fifth place in the table but have slipped of late and trail 4th placed Rugby Lions by 11 points now and are only two points ahead of sixth placed Darlington Mowden Park. They are second bottom on the Form Guide with just one win in their last six matches and are looking to avoid a fifth straight defeat.

Darlington have won just once in their last six matches as well and a win here would make it two wins in their last three matches. On the road they have picked up three wins in their last nine matches including winning at West Park St Helens in their last away match. .

Fylde were narrow away day winners when the two sides met earlier in the season at Blackwell Meadows 18-15.

They trail second placed Blaydon now by just two points with six matches remaining.  At Lightfoot Green this season they have played nine times winning seven and losing one and drawing one against Hull Ionians and West Park St Helens respectively.

Leicester Lions are second in the Form Guide which has helped them move into the top half of the table with five wins and a draw in their last six matches. They are now eight points clear of the relegation zone and a win here would virtually make them safe.

On the road they have played nine times picking up three wins.

Leicester Lions were narrow 13-9 winners when they met Preston Grasshoppers at Westleigh Park earlier in the season.

Prediction: Home win for Hoppers but it will not be easy over an improved Lions side.

Rugby Lions v Orrell

Rugby Lions will be looking to return to winning ways as they try and keep in touch with the two sides immediately above them in the table.

Orrell are just playing for pride now and hoping somewhere along the line to pick up that first elusive win of the season.

On the road they have lost all ten matches and last time conceded over 100 points losing 102-0 at Tynedale.

Rugby Lions were 36-13 winners when the sides met at Edge Hall Road earlier in the season.

Tynedale v Hull Ionians

Leaders Tynedale will be looking for the win over 11th placed Hull Ionians to consolidate top spot in National Three North.

Tynedale top the Form Guide with six wins out of six and find themselves five points clear at the top of the table.

At home they have played ten times winning five and losing five.

Macclesfield are only eight points clear of the relegation Zone and need another win to make them virtually safe with six games remaining.

On the road they have a poor record with just two wins in ten matches winning at Orrell and Hull Ionians.

When these two sides met earlier in the season it was home advantage which saw Macclesfield 30-18 winners.
