In at the Corner - National Three North

Blaydon 33(Tries: Altona (9), Smith 2 (13, 35), Fenby (22), Penalty Try (69). Cons: J Kyle 4.    

Morley 26 (Tries: Challinor (25), Penalty Try (32), Boyd (53), Callaghan (78). Cons: Boyd 3.       

Blaydon were home winners over Morley and picked up all five points on offer whilst Morley left with two bonus points.

The home side made the better start and went into 1 19-0 lead with tries form No 8 Peter Altona, full back Ralph Smith and winger Andrew Fenby and James Kyle added a couple of conversions.

Morley responded with two tries in seven minutes with second row Matt Challinor and a penalty try seeing then get it back to 19-14 with Glen Boyd converting them both. Late in the half the home side got try number four with Smith completing a double and Kyle added the extras. To sent his side in 26-14 ahead.

Morley got the first score of the second half on 53 minutes with Boyd going over and adding a conversion to get back within five points at 26-21. On 69 minutes Blaydon were awarded a penalty try and Kyle converted to lead by 12. It was Morley who got the final score with winger Matt Callaghan going over to make it a seven point match with only a few minutes remaining.         

 

Darlington Mowden Park 19 (Try: Breen (53). Con: Breen. Pens: Breen 4 (12, 25, 50, 73).     

Cleckheaton 8 (Try: Drage (49). Pen: Edwards (16).      

Home win for DMP at home to struggling to Cleckheaton with wing Michael Breen scoring all 19 points.

Breen put the home side ahead on 12 minutes with a penalty goal. Owen Edwards made it three all four minutes later but a second Breen penalty goal saw the home side go in 6-3 ahead. Early in the second half the visitors went ahead with scrum half Alex Drage going over for the games opening try. Breen pulled three points back with a penalty goal and when he went over for a try on 53 minutes the home side were ahead and the conversion made it 16-8.  

Breen put over his 4th penalty goal late in the game to seal the win.

 

Fylde 45 (Tries: Royle 2 (26, 72), Cunliffe (43), Muckalt (54), Clark (56), Wallwork (78). Cons: Armstrong 3. Pens: Armstrong 3 (4, 12, 38).     

Darlington 13 (Try: Rayner (11). Con: Rayner. Pens: Rayner 2 (28, 40)     

Fylde pick up a comfortable home win over relegation threatened Darlington running in six tries. The first half was a tight affair with the home side going in a point ahead at 14-13. All 13 points for the visitors came from fly half Charlie Rayner who went over for a try which he converted and put over a couple of penalty goals. Or Fylde John Armstrong put over three penalty goals and wing Nick Royle went over for his 19th try of the season. 

The second half was one way traffic with the home side going over five times and Royle completed a double to get to 20 for the season.

 

Preston Grasshoppers 43 (Tries: Wilson (2), Viney 2 (6, 49), Dewhurst (35), Flynn (39), Crous (65), McKenna (75). Cons: Bailey 4.       

Leicester Lions 14 (Tries: Collins (4), Nock (45). Cons: Boden 2.      

Comfortable home win for Preston Grasshoppers as they look to keep the pressure on second placed Blaydon picking up all five points on offer.  

The game got off to a quick start with three tries in the opening six minutes with scrum half Darren Wilson and full back Oliver Viney going over and Gareth Collins touching down for the visitors as Hoppers led 12-7 with Paul Bailey and Jon Boden putting over conversions.

Two converted tries late in the half saw the home side go in at half time in control 26-7 ahead and the try bonus point already secured.  

The Lions did manage the first score of the second half with flanker Francis Nock going over and Boden converted. After that it was all Hoppers with three more tries and Viney continued his excellent recent try scoring form as he completed a double and moved onto 15 for the season.

 

Rugby Lions 7 (Tries: Hawken (11), Facer (12), Handley (34), Greenbury (43), Wati (66), Penalty try (78). Cons: Hawken 3. Pen: Hawken (30).       

Orrell 7 (Try: Fratermali (70). Con: Makhaza.      

Comfortable home win for Rugby Lions over bottom of the table Orrell.  

The home side were on the scoreboard in the opening minute with full back James Hawken going over and adding the conversion. They got two more tires in the first half and with Hawken adding another conversion and a penalty goal they went in 22-0 ahead.  

Three minutes into the second half and they had the try bonus point secured with prop Philip Greenbury going over.

The other prop Tristan Wati got the fifth try before Orrell finally made it over the Lions try line with prop Dominic Fratermali going over.

Late in the game the home side were awarded a penalty try to wrap up the win.

 

Tynedale 43 (Tries: Massey (14), White 2 (48, 69), Andrew Murray (54), Scott (65), C Johnston (73). Cons: Massey 4.     

Hull Ionians 7 (Try: Wackett (38). Con: Birch.      

Tynedale pick up maximum points to maintain their five point lead at the top of the table but they had to come back form a half time deficit. The home side went ahead on 14 minutes when Will Massey went over for an unconverted try. Late in the half winger Peter Wackett went over for Ionians and Karl Birch converted. 

Three tries in the third quarter saw the game change with centre Rob White, No 8 Andrew Murray and centre Jack Harrison and Massey put over a couple of conversions and the bonus point was in the bag. 

They ran in three more tries in the final quarter with White going on to complete a double.

 

West Park St Helens 24 (Tries: Turner (24), Hitchmough (43), O’Toole (64), Clarke (66). Cons: Ryan 2.       

Macclesfield 18 (Tries: D Jones (8), Wilding (62). Con: Winney. Pens: Winney 2 (28, 38).      

Huge win for West Park St Helens at home to Macclesfield to move them up to tenth in the table and four points clear of the relegation zone.

Macc were first on the scoreboard with full back David Jones going over on 8 minutes and Ross Winney converted. West Park were level on 24 minutes with winger Mark Turner going over for his 9th try of the season and Neil Ryan converted.

Two penalties late in the half gave the visitors a 13-7 Half time lead.

Three minutes into the second half and full back Rob Hitchmough went over to male it a one point game. Macc went six points clear on 62 minutes when winger Nick Wilding went over for an unconverted try. Two minutes later and West Park were right back in it when scrum half Chris O’Toole went over and Ryan converted for a one point lead 19-18. They got the four try on 66 minutes when right wing Matt Clark went over to seal the win.
