Terrace Talk - National Three South

Bridgwater & Albion v Hertford

Sixth placed Bridgwater & Albion entertain 11th placed Hertford who are fighting for their survival.

Bridgwater & Albion pushed leaders Southend all the way last week before going down 32-26. They are at the right end of the Form Guide with four wins in their last six matches.

They have a good home record winning six out of eight.

Hertford were well beaten at home last Saturday by Westcombe Park and slipped to back to back defeats. In the Form Guide they have won two of their last six matches and are only a point clear of Clifton and a relegation place.

Albion were convincing winners at Hertford earlier in the season coming through 43-10 winners.

Prediction: Home win for Albion by 10 points against Hertford.

Chinnor v Canterbury

Bottom of the table Chinnor entertain fifth placed Canterbury looking for back to back wins for the first time this season.

Chinnor were away day winners at Rosslyn Park last Saturday and would love to finish the season with a flourish.

It was just their third win of the season and first on the road.

Canterbury were well beaten at home last Saturday by relegation candidates Clifton and will be keen to return to winning ways after slipping to back to back defeats and falling behind Havant and Lydney.

Canterbury were comfortable winners when the sides met earlier in the season 44-5.

Prediction: Away win for Canterbury at Chinnor by 10 points.

Cinderford v Rosslyn Park

Eighth placed Cinderford entertain ninth placed Rosslyn Park with both sides looking to return to winning ways.

Cinderford were defeat at Lydney last Saturday as they went in search of a third straight win.

At home they have six wins in 11 matches.

Rosslyn Park were bitterly disappointed to lose at home to bottom of the table Chinnor last Saturday when a win would have made them all but safe from the threat of relegation. On the road they have managed three wins in 11 away day trips.

Rosslyn Park were 18-6 winners when the sides met earlier in the season.

Prediction: Home win for Cinderford over Rosslyn Park by eight points.

Clifton v Southend

Leaders Southend travel to relegation threatened Clifton with both sides in need of the points for different reasons.

Clifton picked up a brilliant away win at Canterbury last Saturday and kept alive their hopes of avoiding the drop and staying in the National Leagues.

With home matches still to come against Chinnor and Hertford they still have a good chance of avoiding the drop and anything out of this match would be a bonus.

Southend were pushed all the way last week by Bridgwater & Albion before coming through to win 32-26. They have the easier looking run in on Westcombe Park as they look to take the title and go into National Two for the first time ever.

When the sides met earlier in the season Clifton ran Southend close before the home side came through 33-29.

Prediction:  Away win for Southend by nine points at Clifton with both sides in need of the points.

Dings Crusaders v Lydney

10th placed Dings Crusaders take on fourth placed Lydney with the threat of relegation still hanging over them.

Dings were away day winners at Old Patesians last Saturday to return to winning ways.

They will be confident going into the match with their excellent home record behind them. They have won six and drawn two of their 11 matches to date at Lockleaze.

Lydney were home winners last Saturday against Cinderford although they failed to pick up the bonus point and dropped a place in the table. They have now won three in a row and will probably need to win all their remaining matches to have a chance of catching the top two.

Lydney were 22-12 winners when the sides met earlier in the season at Regentsholme.

Prediction:  Lydney away win at Lockleaze by 12 points.

North Walsham v Old Patesians

Seventh placed North Walsham take on second bottom Old Patesians at Scottow looking to return to winning ways.

North Walsham were well beaten last Saturday at Havant and will be keen to return to winning ways and erase that defeat from their system.

They have now lost four in a row and slipped don to seventh place in the table.

Old Patesians were beaten at home disappointingly by Dings Crusaders and are all but relegated with some tough games to come. On the road they have played 11 times and lost every time.

North Walsham were 22-11 winners when the sides met at Everest Road earlier in the season.

Prediction:  Home win for North Walsham by nine points at Scottow against Old Patesians.

Westcombe Park v Havant

Second placed Westcombe Park entertain third placed Havant knowing a win would all but stop Havant form catching them in the race for a top two finish.

Westcombe Park top the Form Guide with five straight wins and remain two points behind leaders Southend.  A win here for Combe would see them open up a 12-14 point lead over the Hampshire side.

Havant are second in the Form Guide also with five straight wins and know a win here would see them close to within four/five points of Combe with a game in hand and all to play for.

Havant thrashed Westcombe Park earlier in the season 40-7 at Hooks Lane.

Prediction:  Game of the day will go to Westcombe Park by eight points over Havant at Goddington Dene.
