Eight minutes into the second half and Winney put over a penalty goal in what turned out to be the final score of the match.

Fylde 24 (Tries: Brennand 2 (2, 47). Royle (35), Holmes (40). Cons: Armstrong 2.

Cleckheaton 9 (Pens: Edwards (18, 40, 62).

Preston Grasshoppers 39 (Tries: Viney (7), Crous (12), Morton (17), Flynn (26), Moore (79). Cons: Bailey 5. Pen: Bailey (2).

Hoppers took all five points and regained third place in the table with Rugby Lions losing at home to Tynedale.

They did the damage in the first half building up a commanding 31-3 lead with four converted tries. First on the scoreboard was Paul Bailey with a penalty goal but on seven minutes full back Oliver Viney was over for his 16th try of the season and Bailey added the extras. He went on to converted three more first half tries as flanker Juan Crous, No 8 Richard Morton and wing Russell Flynn all went over the Park line. Andrew Soutar managed a 15th minute penalty goal for the home side.

In the second half it took till the hour mark for the opening score as the home side staged a mini revival with three unanswered tries form No 8 Craig Smithson, centre Steven Briers and full back Rob Hitchmough with Soutar putting over a couple of conversion to make it 31-22 after 78 minutes. Hoppers stopped the West Park scoring flow with s fifth try as replacement Ollie Moore went over and Bailey made it five out of five. .

On 80 minutes the home side went over for what could prove a vital fourth try as they picked up a bonus point to leave themselves 10 points clear of Darlington whose game at Orrell was called off. That means Darlington can still mathematically overhaul West Park but if Park manage at least a point in their final game they will be safe. They play second placed Tynedale away in their final match of the season whilst Darlington have to play away at Cleckheaton next time out and home to Orrell on the 28th April. They would need two wins with bonus points and over come a huge points advantage that West Park currently have over them.

Blaydon 41 (Tries: Smith 3 (3, 40, 80), Mellalieu 2 (23, 40), Altoona (29), Kyle (79). Cons: Mellalieu 3.

Hull Ionians 10 (Try: Smith (77). Con: Smith. Pen: Birch (18).

Blaydon were ahead after just three minutes after a Full back Ralph Smith touched down. Ionians pulled three points back on 18 minutes but three more home tries by the interval had the try bonus point in the bag.

Fly half Anthony Mellalieu went over followed by No 8 Peter Altona and then Smith completed a double to lead 24-3.

Early in the second half Mellalieu completed a double but the rest of the scoring did not come till the final few minutes as Ionians replacement Chris Smith went over and added the conversion before Blaydon got two mire tries late on. Scrum half James Kyle went over and then Smith completed a hat trick and moved onto 13 tries for the season.

A win with all five points against Preston Grasshoppers in their final match would see Blaydon home as Champions and leave Tynedale in the play offs.

Rugby Lions 7 (Try: Wadey (60). Con: Hawken.

Tynedale 24 (Tries: Ali Murray (21), J Smales (49), Massey (54). Cons: Belgian 3. Pen: Belgian (2).

Tynedale got the win but missed the all important try bonus point and lost top spot in the division to North East rivals Blaydon with just one match remaining.

Tynedale were on the scoreboard in just the second minute with Phil Belgian putting over a penalty goal. They had to wait till the 21str minute for their first try as Alistair Murray went over and Belgian converted and they went in 10-0 ahead at the break.

Tries in the third quarter from Jack Smales and full back Will Massey, both converted by Belgian, left the visitors 24-0 ahead as they went in search of the all important fourth try. They lost second row Graeme Smith to the sin bin and the Lions got off the mark with second row James Wadey going over and James Hawken converting. Despite plenty of pressure they were unable to get the all important fourth try and lost top spot in the table as a consequence.
