In at the Corner - London One

Barnes 32 (Tries: Thomas, Southey, Monahan, Spencer, Keany. Con: Farmer 2. Pen: Farmer.       

Bishop’s Stortford 14 (Try: M McCraith . Pens: Coleman 3.     

Barnes finished the season with a home win over Bishop’s Stortford out scoring them five tries to one.  

They were just 15-9 ahead at the break with tries from right wing Lorenzo Southey and No 8 James Keany with Paul Farmer putting over a penalty goal and a conversion.

For the visitors Tom Coleman put over three penalty goals to keep his side in the match.

Three tries in the third quarter changed the game as Barnes took full control of the match to move 32-9 ahead with tries form centre Nicholas Monahan, full back Ben Thomas and flanker Paul Spencer. Late in the game the visitors did manage to cross the home try line as flanker Mark McCraith touched down.

 

Ealing 94 (Tries: Essien 4, King 4, Ejikeme 2, Wells, Bruynseels, Young, Neville, Smith, Carr. Cons: Wells 6, Ward.       

Haywards Heath 8 (Try: Covert. Pen: Penney. 

Ealing wrapped up second place in the table with this comprehensive win over Haywards Heath running in 16 tries.   

They led 39-3 at half time with seven tries scored including a double for flanker David Essien. They got another nine in the second half with Essien going on to get four a figure matched by Jay King including a second half hat trick.  

 

Richmond 103 (Tries: Howells 3, Farmer 3, Ajuma 2, Roache 2, Drewe, Wilson, Barlow, Evans, MacLellan. Cons: Hart 14.        

Guildford 19 (Tries: Hatch, Davey, Titifuli. Cons: Mannering 2.    

Richmond finished the season with a huge win over bottom of the table Guildford running in 15 tries with hat tricks for left wing David Howells and flanker Jono Farmer whilst there were doubles for right wing Jo Ajuma and scrum half Hayden Roache.

Full Back Matt Hart managed to convert 14 of the 15 tries.  

They were 68-0 ahead at the break with ten tries already scored.

 

Shelford 20 (Tries: Birkby, Smith. Cons: Glynn 2. Pens: Glynn 2.     

Portsmouth 24 (Tries: Stuart 2, Ofuasia, Pen try. Cons:     

Portsmouth’s remarkable end to the season continued with this away win at Shelford. 

Shelford got the better start and went ahead with a Chris Glynn penalty goal on two minutes. Eight minutes later they were 10-0 ahead after a try from No 8 Steve Smith and Glynn added the extras.   

Glynn made it 13-0 on 18 minutes as Shelford looked to be taking control of the game.

Just before the half hour mark centre Ben Stuart touched down for the visitors and they went in 13-5 down at the break.

Ten minutes into the second half and Portsmouth got a second try as leading try scorer Oge Ofuasia touched down. They took the lead on 61 minutes when they were awarded a penalty try by the referee and it was 17-13. Five minutes later they went further ahead with Stuart getting a second try and it was 24-13 with the conversion added.

Late in the game Shelford got right back in the match with a try from scrum half Alex Birkby and Glynn converted.   

So both Shelford and Portsmouth can look forward to a second season of Rugby in London One.

  

Staines 10 (Try: Knill. Con: Knill. Pens: Knill      

London Scottish 32 (Tries:  Sylvester, Alesbrook, Soper, Ramsey. Cons: Vines, Whelan 2. Pens: Whelan 2.   

London Scottish took the London One title with this away win at Staines although for an hour it was a close contest with the Scottish just 15-12 ahead.

The Scottish were 5-0 ahead on 19 minutes when hooker Stuart Sylvester went over for a try. Three minutes later and the home side were off the mark with a penalty goal form fly half David Knill. The visitors went in 12-4 ahead at the break after an injury time try from No 8 Alex Alesbrook and full back Matt Vines converted.

Early in the second half and Staines went over for a try from Knill who added the conversion and they were just two points adrift at 12-10.

On the hour mark Jamie Whelan put over a penalty goal to give Scottish a five point lead 15-10.     

Tries though from forwards Lee Soper and David Ramsey, both converted by Whelan, saw the visitors move into a winning lead and take the title Whelan finished of the scoring with a late penalty goal.

 

Worthing 76 (Tries:  Taylor 2, Storer 2, Mellors 2, Stewart-McDonald, Coulson, McGowan, Butterworth, Butler, Farnes. Cons: Coulson 8.       

Old Albanians 11 (Try: Peters. Pens: Gregg 2.    

Big home win for Worthing running in 12 tries with doubles for centre Duncan Taylor, prop Ryan Storer and flanker Jason Mellors. Left wing Ben Coulson scored 21 points with a try and eight conversions.

They were 36-6 up at the break with six tries already scored.    

In the second half they scored another six tries to run out easy winners.

So the home side finishes third behind Ealing on points difference.
