Terrace Talk - National Three North

Orrell v Morley

Bottom of the table Orrell play their final ever match at Edge Hall Road as they taker on  sixth placed Morley still looking for that elusive first win of the season.

Orrell are looking to avoid a 23rd loss this season and final break their duck of not managing a win all season, they have managed two draws along the way at home to Cleckheaton and West Park St Helens.

Morley are looking to finish the season with back to back wins and that would also make it four wins in their last five as they have climbed into the top half of the table. On the road they have a poor record with just two wins in 12 matches to date.

Earlier in the season Morley were home winners over Orrell triumphing 47-7.

Prediction: Comfortable away by 15 points for Morley over Orrell.  .

Preston Grasshoppers v Blaydon

Top of the table Blaydon travel to third placed Preston Grasshoppers knowing a win with all five points will see them as Champions.

Hoppers can wrap up third place with a home win over the leaders as they look to maintain their impressive home record of 10 wins and a draw and only Hull Ionians have left with a win.

Blaydon lead Tynedale by a point and with their rivals having an easier match on paper they know they just don’t need the win but the bonus point as well with Tynedale having a better points difference.

Preston were away day winners at Crow Trees when the sides met earlier in the season.

Prediction: Tough call this one but will go away win by eight for Blaydon.

Cleckheaton v Darlington

Already relegated Cleckheaton entertain Darlington who know that if they win here and pick up a bonus point could still mathematically escape relegation.

Cleckheaton are already relegated and are bottom of the Form Guide as the only team without a point in their last six matches.

At home this season they have managed only three wins.

If Darlington took all five points here and West Park were to lose at Tynedale and not pick up a bonus point that would leave Darlington to play Orrell next week and five points there and a big turnaround in their points difference and they could avoid the drop.

When the sides met at Blackwell Meadows earlier in the season Cleckheaton left with a 13-3 win.

Prediction: 12 point away win for Darlington as they look to keep their faint survival chances alive.

Hull Ionians v Fylde

Fifth placed Fylde entertain ninth placed Hull Ionians knowing they could overhaul Rugby Lions and finish fourth.

Hull Ionians have climbed away form the relegation zone in recent weeks after a three match winning run which ended last week away at Blaydon who went top of the table after the win.

At home Ionians have picked up five wins to date this season.

Fylde are third in the Form Guide as they go looking for a fourth straight win. On the road they have a patchy record five wins and seven defeats to date this season.

At Woodlands earlier in the season Fylde were 29-0 home winners.

Prediction: Home win for Ionians by seven points over Fylde.   .

Tynedale v West Park St Helens

Second placed Tynedale take on fourth bottom West Park St Helens with both sides having something to play for.

Tynedale just have to win and take a bonus point to have a chance of catching Blaydon who they trail by a point in the table although they have what could be a tricky away fixture at Preston Grasshoppers.

At home they have lost just the once early in the season to Blaydon.

West Park are 10 points ahead of Darlington and a point would see them safe for another season of National League rugby. If they were to lose and not pick up a bonus point they could be overtaken by Darlington but it would need the North East side to win both their matches with bonus points and overturn a 166 points difference advantage that West Park have over them.

When the sides met at Redrocks earlier in the season Tynedale were away day winners 34-25.

Prediction: Home win for Tynedale by 15 points over West Park.

Macclesfield v Leicester Lions

10th placed Macclesfield entertain seventh placed Leicester Lions looking to finish the season on a winning note.

Macclesfield are at the wrong end of the Form Guide with just two wins in their last six matches and have flirted with the relegation threat for the last few weeks. At home they have a good record with eight wins to date form 12 matches.

Leicester Lions could move up a place above Morley if they were to win here and Morley came unstuck at bottom of the table Orrell playing their last match at Edge Hall Road. On the road the Lions have managed just four wins all season.

At Westleigh Park earlier in the season the Lions were narrow 27-23 winners.

Prediction: Home win for Macclesfield by five points over Leicester Lions.

Darlington Mowden Park v Rugby Lions

Eighth placed Darlington Mowden Park take on fourth placed Rugby Lions looking for a win which could see them move into the top half of the table.

Darlington Mowden Park are looking to avoid a third straight defeat on a run which has seen them drop out of the top half of the table. At home they do have a great record with ten wins and just two defeats to date this season.

Rugby Lions need the win to consolidate fourth place and maybe catch third placed Preston Grasshoppers who entertain league leaders Blaydon.

On the road they have managed to pick up seven wins already this season.

When the sides met at Webb Ellis Road earlier in the season the Lions were 36-0 winners.

Prediction: Home win for Mowden Park to maintain their excellent home form.
