Terrace Talk - National Two

Wharfedale v Esher

Champions Esher travel to sixth placed Wharfedale looking to finish the campaign with a win and 24 wins form 26 matches.

Wharfedale know a win could see them move up a place in the table if Blackheath came unstuck at Nuneaton. They were beaten last Saturday at Stourbridge which ended a win of four straight wins.

At home this season they have eight wins and a draw from their 12 matches to date.

Esher came back form a 13-3 half time deficit last week to beat Henley Hawks and end their chances of promotion to National One. On the road they have 11 wins and just the one defeat on their last away day at Cambridge going down 40-37.

Earlier in the season Esher were comfortable home winners over Wharfedale 35-17

Prediction: Home win for Wharfedale by five points.

Barking v Halifax

Second bottom Barking take on 11th placed Halifax at home looking to end the season with just their fourth win of the season.

Barking along with Harrogate are the only sides in the division without a win in their last six matches and sit bottom of the Form Guide.

At home they have done poorly with just one win in 12 matches, a 34-11 win over Harrogate.

Halifax are looking to finish the season with a win after five straight defeats.

On the road they have a poor record this season with just three wins in 12 matches to date at Harrogate, Bradford & Bingley and Stourbridge.

Halifax were 33-18 home winners when the sides met earlier in the season.

Prediction: Halifax to win by nine points at Barking.

Cambridge v Harrogate

Ninth placed Cambridge will be looking to end the season with a win at home to bottom of the table Harrogate.

Cambridge are at the right end of the Form Guide with four wins in their last five matches which has moved them well up the table in recent weeks.

Harrogate hale lost all 12 matches on the road so far this season picking up just one point, a losing bonus point at Bradford & Bingley.

At Claro Road on the opening day of the season Harrogate recorded their only win of the season to date with a 19-17 triumph.

Prediction: Home win for Cambridge by 15 points over Harrogate.

Henley Hawks v Cornish All Blacks

Third placed Henley Hawks take on already promoted Cornish All Blacks looking for a win at least having missed out to the Cornish side in the battle for second spot last week.

Henley Hawks defeat at Esher last Saturday ended their promotions dreams so they will be hoping at least to get one over on Cornish All Blacks at Dry Leas.

At home they have done well this season with ten wins and just two defeats to date.

The Cornish All Blacks wrapped up second spot with their win over Cambridge last Saturday at Polson Bridge but left it late to secure the try bonus point which made it impossible for the Hawks to catch them.

At Polson Bridge earlier in the season home advantage counted as the All Blacks came through 26-15 winners.

Prediction: Henley Hawks to beat the All Blacks by five points.

Manchester v Bradford & Bingley

Eighth placed Manchester take on third bottom Bradford & Bingley at Grove Lane on Saturday looking for a win to consolidate their position in the table.

Manchester are looking to finish the season with a hat trick of wins and stay ahead of Nuneaton and Cambridge who could in theory both pass them in the table in they were both to win and Manchester came unstuck.

The Bees are looking to finish the season with back to back wins after last Saturdays home win over Barking which made sure they finished third bottom and not second bottom.

On the road they have two wins in 12 matches and they were against the two sides below them in the table.

Manchester were 18-10 winners at Wagon Lane earlier in the season.

Prediction: Home win for Manchester over their Yorkshire rivals by 12 points.

Nuneaton v Blackheath

Ninth placed Nuneaton entertain fifth placed Blackheath at Liberty Way looking to return to winning ways.

Nuneaton missed out on a run of three straight wins last Saturday going down to a defeat at Manchester. At home this season they have done well with eight wins and four defeats to date.

Blackheath returned to winning ways last Saturday after back to back defeats and a win here would guarantee them fifth place in the table.

On the road they have picked up five wins from 12 matches.

At the Rectory Field earlier in the season Blackheath were 19-6 winners.

Prediction: Tough call but will go with narrow away win by four points

.

Redruth v Stourbridge

Fourth placed Redruth entertain seventh placed Stourbridge looking for a win which could see them finish third if Henley lose at home to Cornish All Blacks.

Redruth top the Form Guide with a draw and five successive wins and have a chance of snatching third place if Cornish All Blacks can beat Henley Hawks which would cap a great season.

Stourbridge have lost two of their last three matches after a good winning run but can finish no lower than seventh place they occupy now but could climb to fifth with a win here and both Wharfedale and Blackheath slipping up

On the road they have managed just the four wins to date this season.

Stourbridge were 17-6 winners at Stourton Park earlier in the season.

Prediction: Home win for Redruth over Stourbridge by nine points.
