Back to 5 Year Personal Debentures (2008 Series) main page
What is a Twickenham Debenture?
A debenture confers on the debenture holder the right to purchase, at face value, one ticket for Rugby Union events at Twickenham Stadium for a given period, currently 10 years (with the exception of a small number of business debentures in the South Stand which confer ticket rights for 15 years). A debenture is fully repayable, currently after 75 years, but bears no interest.
Are debenture holders always allocated the same seats?
The RFU endeavours to allocate the same seats to debenture holders for England Internationals for which tickets are under the control of the RFU (ie not Rugby World Cup matches). Debenture holders are not guaranteed the same seats for non-International matches, although the RFU strives to provide the highest quality seats for events over which it has ticketing control. At events for which Twickenham Stadium has been hired by a third party, the allocation of tickets to debenture holders is out of the RFU’s control.
Are debenture holders entitled to tickets for England’s away matches?
No. The RFU’s allocation as the visiting union is not large enough to offer away tickets to debenture holders.
Are debenture holders entitled to tickets for events other than Rugby Union matches?
Debenture holders do not have an entitlement to tickets for other events, such as concerts or other sports. However, the RFU would always endeavour to negotiate an allocation of tickets for debenture holders from the organisers, although this would not necessarily be enough to satisfy demand.
Do debentures carry an entitlement to car parking?
Some debentures do carry an entitlement to parking, but most do not. Some debenture holders who purchased debentures for the first time between 1980 and 1995, and who have purchased new debentures as their original ones expired, have an entitlement. Anyone who purchased debentures for the first time since 1995 does not have an entitlement. There is no parking available with this current issue.
Can anyone become a debenture holder?
Personal debentures can be purchased by individuals (but not businesses), provided that the purchaser is a member of a club or constituent body affiliated to the RFU throughout the period that there is an entitlement to purchase tickets. Business debentures can also be purchased by companies or partnerships, provided that the company (or its nominee) or partnership (or its nominee) is a member of an affiliated club or constituent body. How do I apply for tickets?
At present, debenture holders must complete an application form and return it with payment or payment details to the Debenture Office by a closing date. These forms are sent at regular intervals through the post. However, it is anticipated that by season 2008/9, debenture holders will be able to apply for their tickets, and have access to their booking history, using an on-line booking system accessed through the RFU website. |
