National Three South

Leaders Mounts Bay are away at relegation threatened North Walsham knowing a win edges then nearer the title with just two games to go after this weekend.

North Walsham are in desperate need of a win as they battle to avoid the drop out of the National Leagues.

After back to back wins against Havant and Dings they have slipped to three successive defeats and are in serious trouble especially after losing at home to Clifton one of the sides battling to avoid the drop with them.

At Scottow this season they have won just four times in 11 matches and only once in their last five but in all four defeats they took a losing bonus point.

Leaders Mounts Bay are looking for their 22nd win of the season from 24 matches as they close in on the National Three South title.

After losing their 100 % home record to Ealing, Bay have bounced back with good wins, away at Lydney at home to Luton taking all ten points available.

They have got 13 try bonus points which is two more than any other side in the division.

On the road they have won 10 out of 11 with the only defeat coming at the hands of their nearest challenges Cinderford. In four of the 10 wins they have given up a losing bonus point and are looking to make it six straight wins on their travels.

Bay were 26-7 home winners when the sides met earlier in the season.

Second placed Cinderford have a tough home match against third placed Canterbury knowing a win guarantees at least a play off place but realistically second is the best they can do

Cinderford are 13 points clear of third placed Canterbury with three matches remaining and a win here will guarantee a top two finish.

Cinderford have slipped off the pace after drawing two of their last three matches away at Dings and Clifton. They have the longest unbeaten run in the division,16 matches since losing 39-22 at home to Bridgwater & Albion.

Since that defeat to Bridgwater they have won eight on the bounce at home giving up just the one losing bonus point.

Canterbury have the same number of points as fourth placed Ealing but are above them on the most wins rule 17 to 15.

After back to back defeats at the hands of Mounts Bay and Ealing, Canterbury have responded with three straight wins with a try bonus point in each one of them to climb back up the table.

On the road they have a good record with eight wins and just three defeats.

When the sides met earlier in the season Cinderford were 24-3 away day winners.

Fourth placed Ealing are away at bottom of the table Luton looking to take advantage of Canterbury’s tough away match at Cinderford and move above them in the table.

Luton are relegated already with three games to go but will be looking to finish the season on a positive note if they can.

On the plus side they do not have the worst defensive record with Clifton conceding more points and attacking wise North Walsham have scored fewer points.

They have lost their last 14 matches since beating Clifton 44-17 back in early November.

Ealing are fourth but level on points with third placed Canterbury with the Kent side ahead of them on the most wins rule 17 to 15 with Ealing scoring well on the bonus points. In total they have 15 the most in the division, 11 for scoring four tries or more and four losing bonus points.

They have won five of their last six matches including a win away at league leaders Mounts Bay.

On the road they have five wins and a draw in 11 matches but were beaten away at London Scottish last time out.

Ealing were home winners earlier in the season 36-15.

Fifth placed London Scottish are at home to eighth placed Lydney looking to get the win to close the gap on Ealing and Canterbury who they trail by four points.

Scottish are three places above Lydney in the table but some 19 points better off.

They have only won two of their last seven matches and have fallen off the pace in the challenge for a top two place.

After losing back to back at home to Mounts Bay and Canterbury they returned to winning ways with a 20-3 win over Ealing at the Richmond Athletic Ground.

Lydney are looking to end a three match losing run which has come after a run of six straight wins.

In each of their last three defeats they have conceded over 30 points, although the defeats have been against three of the top four sides.

On the road this season they have won four out of 11 and have lost the last two after a four match winning run away from home.

Sixth placed Dings have a tough away match at relegation threatened Havant who will be fighting for their lives and were home winners over London Scottish last time out at Hooks Lane

Havant have won two of their last three and climbed out of the bottom three but are still involved with three games remaining but they are three points above the drop zone with a better points difference and a win here would be a huge step towards safety with Barking and Clifton meeting and North Walsham at home to league leaders Mounts Bay.

At home they have won their last two and won five out of 11.

Dings have the third best tally of bonus points in the division with 13 including six for losing by seven or less which is the joint most in the division.

They are looking to make it three wins in a row since getting a draw against second placed Cinderford early in the month.

On the road they have four wins in 12 matches and last time out were winners at Barking to end a three match losing run.

When the sides met at Lockleaze earlier in the season Crusaders were 27-0 winners.

Seventh placed Bridgwater & Albion are at home to ninth placed Rosslyn Park with Albion looking to close the five point gap on Dings above them in the table.

Although only separated by two places in the table Albion are 11 points clear of Park in the league table.

Both sides have collected six losing bonus points which is the joint most in the division and Albion have six try bonus points, one more than Park.

Albion have won three and lost three of their last six matches but returned to winning ways at College Way last time out to end a two match losing run at home after defeats against Cinderford and London Scottish. Overall at home this season they have won seven and lost four with all the defeats coming against sides in the top five.

Park after a four match losing run have found some form with three wins in their last four matches with the one loss a 20-6 defeat at second placed Cinderford.

They have struggled on the road with three wins in 11 matches and those have come against the bottom three sides in the table.

When the sides met earlier in the season Park were 27-20 home winners.

The big game of the day at the bottom of the table sees 11th placed Barking entertain 13th placed Clifton who they lead by just a point in the table with four sides battling to avoid the last two relegation places

Barking are a point ahead of Clifton in the table with a much better points difference with three games remaining.

They have lost six of their last seven with the one win coming against London Scottish when they were convincing 34-5 winners.

They have lost their last four picking up just two losing bonus points.

At home they have lost their last two after back to back wins over North Walsham and London Scottish. Overall at home they have for wins and a draw in 11 matches.

Clifton with two wins and a draw in their last three games they have given themselves a chance of escaping the drop back into South West One and a win here would be a huge boost for them as they look to make it four matches unbeaten.

Clifton have scored more points than Barking, just, but conceded a lot more over 150.

Last time out they lead second placed Cinderford 22 -0 before being pegged back for a 22 all draw.

On the road they lost their first 10 matches before breaking the duck away at relegation rivals North Walsham.

It was a close run affair at Station Road when they met earlier in the season with Clifton edging it 25-22.
