RugbyFirst Project Manager vacancy at the RFU

RUGBYFIRST PROJECT MANAGER
TWICKENHAM

Salary: c. £40,000 per annum
12 month fixed term

RugbyFirst, the most modern administration system in British sport, is a game-wide internet-based tool to help run rugby at all levels, with the details of more than one million coaches, referees, players and volunteers held on a single system.  To ensure the effective provision of a full range of project management tasks for this major RFU project, we are seeking a RugbyFirst Project Manager.

Key responsibilities will include:  
-Managing the continuing development and implementation of the RugbyFirst project
-Developing and managing supplier relationships
-Managing the day to day operation of RugbyFirst in accordance with agreed objectives and performance targets
-Critically assessing any proposed development solutions from software suppliers
-Developing a training strategy for the development and deployment of applications
-Providing weekly project plan updates to the Project Sponsor
-Assisting with the preparation of test scripts
-Managing and maintaining documentation of all change control requests
-Providing users with a comprehensive new release report detailing all functionality additions and enhancements
-Maintaining a test system
-Maintaining user documentation

It is essential for candidates to have credible experience of the IT project management cycle and contributing effectively to strategic business plans.  Competence in people management, with the ability to effectively lead others and work as part of a team, whether it be project based; with direct reports or peer management group is required.  The preferred candidate will also be proficient in the selection and management of 3rd party suppliers.

Candidates must also be “customer service” driven, demonstrate a thorough, timely approach to work and have the stamina and perseverance to cope with heavy workloads and sometimes complex issues.  High professional standards, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, accuracy and the ability to work successfully both alone and in a small team are all requirements for the post.
