JOB TITLE RUGBYFIRST PROJECT MANAGER (12 Month Role) DEPARTMENT IT REPORTS TO HEAD OF IT (Rob Mackmurdie)
NATURE AND SCOPE OF JOB
The role of RugbyFirst Project Manager is to establish and ensure the effective provision of a full range of project management tasks for a major RFU Project whilst ensuring effective working relationships at all times with colleagues, clubs and constituent bodies, consultants, and suppliers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Manage the continuing development and implementation of the RugbyFirst (RF) project alongside other projects as required, embracing affiliated clubs, Constituent Bodies, Referee Societies and all operational centres.
2. Development and management of supplier relationships.
3. Managing the day to day operation of RF in accordance with agreed objectives and performance targets.
4. Critically assess any proposed development solutions from the software supplier and analyse their appropriateness to the original set of requirements in context of how the users conduct their daily business. It should be borne in mind that if there is the opportunity to improve an existing business practice, this should be discussed with the RF Project Board.
5. Develop a training strategy to allow maximum return on the investment made in the development and deployment of the applications.
6. Provide weekly project plan updates to the Project Sponsor, highlighting any areas of concern and providing details of how the project can be brought back on track.
7. Offer a single point of contact between the RFU and the software supplier(s) and plan, co-ordinate and, where applicable, manage the business users in any project tasks identified as being their responsibility to complete.
8. Assist with the preparation of test scripts to assist the users with their user acceptance testing.
9. With the assistance of the Head of IT, manage the project budget.
10. Formally manage and maintain documentation of all change control requests, ensuring they are brought to the timely attention of the Project Sponsor so that they are accurately prioritised and added into the project development timetable with a minimum of delay and any additional funding required can be sought at the earliest opportunity.
11. Provide the users with a comprehensive new release report which details all functionality additions and enhancements.
12. Maintain a test system and regularly update the test database to ensure its integrity is preserved.
13. Maintain user documentation in line with the current version of the live software.
14. Administration: including the minuting and arranging of meetings, inviting attendees, etc.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

QUALIFICATIONS: • Candidates should be educated to degree level standard or above
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: • Must be expert in managing IT project management cycle • Must have good strategic planning and management experience, and an ability to contribute effectively to commercial and business plans. • Must be able to demonstrate credible competence in people management. • Will be effective in leading others and able to work as part of a team – whether it be project based; with own staff or with peer management group. • Competent in selection and management of 3rd party suppliers.
BACKGROUND: • Personal circumstances must allow the candidate to work extended hours during times of peak activity, including some weekends during the operating season. • Will live within convenient travelling distance of the stadium. • Will preferably already have an interest in sport including rugby union and an awareness of the structure and operation of the game in England.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

SALARY: c. £40,000 per annum PAY FREQUENCY: Monthly
HOURS OF WORK: 37 hours per week. Plus additional as required. 9.00 am to 5.30 pm (Monday to Thursday) 9.00 am to 5.00pm (Friday) 1 hour rest break
NOTICE ENTITLEMENT: 3 months
BENEFITS:
HOLIDAYS: 25 days per annum, plus 8 public holidays Rises to 30 days per annum, plus public holidays after 10 years service.
PENSION: Contributory scheme. Eligible to join after 3 months service. Contributions age under 25 - 2% employee 4% company Contributions age 25 - 34 - 3% employee 6% company Contributions age 35 - 44 - 4% employee 8% company Contributions age 45+- 5% employee 10% company
