County Activators required for vRugby

Background information for vRugby volunteers

vRugby aims to create over 3,744 new opportunties over 3 years from 2008 to 2011 for young people aged 16-25 to volunteer in Rugby Union.  Young volunteers will run ‘bite size’ projects that really benefit their club or local community.  They will receive training, clothing, certificates and expenses.  Having ‘tasted’ rugby volunteering they will be shown paths to longer term voluntary roles at rugby clubs.  The taster projects will be one of four themes:
vRugbyFun Plan Organise and deliver a fun rugby event for others to take part in healthy exercise.
vRugbyLife Use rugby’s ethos to run a session to educate young people about healthy lifestyles (nutrition, exercise, obesity, alcohol, drugs, behaviour, etc.)
vRugbyCash Raise money for a project of your choice to benefit your rugby club.
vRugbyForce Make an improvement to your club facilities so they can be used more by your local community.

The Rugby Football Foundation and v, an independent charity championing youth volunteering in England, are funding the project.  Community Rugby (Rugby Football Development Ltd) will be delivering the project.

The Role

As a County Activator you will…
Take part in training to understand your role and share ideas for how to be successful
Give us your ideas for recruitment, project and training resources
Recruit 7 'club activators' in your area who will run a vRugby project in their community
Organise and run training events for club activators
Check how your 7 ‘club activators’ are getting on (on line and face-to-face) and help them if they need it
Gather the project reports and photos to show how successful the project has been
Give feedback about your experience and help improve the programme

Some of the benefits of taking part are that you will…
Use your skills and learn new ones to help young people volunteer in Rugby
Be part of a project that will really make a difference and look great on your CV
Be given branded clothing to wear when carrying out the role
Receive an expenses allowance

We think that a number of people may be interested in the role, so you may be invited for an informal discussion.
