Terrace Talk - National Two

National Two

Check out all the weekend previews and predictions in National Two.

Full details to follow.

Bracknell v Rosslyn Park

Bracknell will be in a positive mood after last weekends win at Sedgley Park and with home advantage will be looking for a third straight success having seemingly come through a dodgy spell. Park also returned to winning ways last weekend with a huge win at home against bottom of the table Lydney running in 10 tries which will give them renewed confidence. It is not the scoring of the points that Park have a problem with it is shipping them at the other end of the field.

Team news:

Prediction:  Home win by less than 10 points.

Doncaster v Moseley

Doncaster will have gone to Nottingham with high hopes over leaving Beeston with the two points but Nottingham at home are a different story this season and they were sent away pointless. It did end a six match winning run but with home advantage they will more that fancy their chances of beating Moseley. The Midlands side have not been the heaviest of scorers this season with only Lydney scoring fewer points. Where they do impress in defensively with only the top three sides in the division conceding fewer points than Moseley’s 177.

Team news:

Prediction: Home win by 15 points.

Harrogate v Nottingham

Interesting match this one with second placed Harrogate entertaining fourth placed Nottingham. Harrogate are looking for a seventh consecutive win and with home advantage you would have them down as a “home banker” but in their last two matches they have struggled to put away teams struggling at the wrong end of the table. Two weeks ago at home they were just seven point winners against Newbury and then last weekend they only just won at Esher after a try seven minutes from time. They are though within striking distance and if Sedgley Park were to slip up a win could put them top with the best points difference in the division.

Nottingham have been superb at home but it is their away form they need to improve and if they could put pressure on Harrogate they might just be able to sneak the win at Claro Road.

Team news:

Prediction: Home win by 12 points.

Lydney v Newbury

Huge game for both sides in this “four pointer” with Lydney able to move of the bottom if they were to taste success for the second home match running and Esher slip up at Nuneaton. In the first half last week they did ok at Rosslyn Park and were still in touch at half time just 29-24 down, but the second half a different story and they were blitzed by the home side.

Newbury will have seen the last two defeats as matches where they were in with a chance, two weeks ago they put up an excellent performance at Harrogate before going down to a seven point loss whilst last Saturday they were unable to build on an early 12-0 lead at home to Nuneaton before going down to a three point defeat.

Team news:

Prediction: Home win by less than 10 points.

Nuneaton v Esher

Nuneaton have recovered well after a shaky start to the season and have won their last two and will be hoping for three in a row on Saturday with home advantage against a side second from bottom with just one win in 10. They have done better away from home this season with a 2/2 record at Liberty Way so Esher will see some daylight there.

The visitors are having a dreadful season and with no front line kicker have struggled to impose themselves on the opposition. They have though done well away from home in that they got a draw at Nottingham and went down by five and six points at Stourbridge and Wharfedale respectively.

Team news:

Prediction:  Home win by 12 points.

Rugby Lions v Wharfedale

The 10th placed Lions are looking to avoid a third straight defeat with home advantage over the 3rd placed Wharfedale who returned to winning ways last weekend with a big win at home to Stourbridge. Rugby will find it hard against the tightest defence in the Division especially as they have one of the poorest attacks in the division with only Newbury and Lydney scoring fewer points.

Wharfedale will see this as a game they need to be winning to keep pace with the top two and there is no reason why they should not leave with the points as the sides meet for the first time ever in the League.

Team news:

Prediction: Away success by 10 points.

Stourbridge v Sedgley Park

Big test for Sedgley Park as they look to bounce back from last weekends surprise loss at Park Lane to Bracknell although they take on a Stourbridge side that was well beaten at Wharfedale last Saturday.

At home this season Stourbridge have been impressive with four wins out of five matches, the only side to leave with the points were Nuneaton.

Park are unbeaten on the road this season and will see this as a match they can win and get last week out of their system and keep the two point lead over Harrogate.

Team news:

Prediction: Park back to winning ways by less than 10 points.
