Terrace Talk - National Three North

National Three North

Check out all the weekend previews and predictions in National Three North

Darlington v Tynedale

With Tynedale out of form at the moment this is the perfect opportunity for Darlington to continue their good recent run which sees them fourth in the Form guide with three wins and a draw in their last six matches. Tynedale have lost two of their last three and they were both home matches with the win coming away at Preston thanks to a late score.

Darlington have done well at home with three successive wins behind them and will see that a win here depending on the result elsewhere could see them rise to 9th in the table which a few weeks ago looked a long way off.

Tynedale are fifth at present but a defeat here and the sides above winning could see a five point gap open up as the top four break away.

Team news:

Prediction: Home win by less than 10 points.

Dudley Kingswinford v Liverpool St Helens

DK are desperate for a win to try and end their five match losing run and to climb the table as they are currently second bottom of Three North. DK need a turnaround in form otherwise they are in trouble this season as they have the worst defensive record conceding 333 points in their 10 matches, 86 more than anybody else.

Liverpool St Helens have lost their last two but they were games against the top two sides in the division and they gave them both a run for their money before going down to defeats. They will see this as a game they can win to try and keep in touch with Macclesfield the side above them in the division who are three points ahead of them.

Team news:

Prediction: Away win by 14 points.

Halifax v Longton

After their excellent win last week at New Brighton where Halifax made it ten out of ten they will be confident of victory this week over bottom of the table Longton. They will note though that Longton have a mean defence for a side at the foot of the table but who are having problems putting points on the board with just 124 scored in 10 matches, 46 fewer than any other side in the division.

Team news:

Prediction: Home win by 15 points.

Kendal v Blaydon

Kendal are looking for back to back wins after their excellent away win at Tynedale last Saturday. Blaydon were back to winning ways last weekend as well as they thumped Preston 48-7.

At home this season Kendal have won three out of four with the only side leaving Mint Bridge with the points this season being Halifax with a narrow 20-18 win.

On the road this season the visitors have a 50% record with two wins, two defeats and a draw and the wins coming at Darlington MP and Longton.

In the form guide over the last six matches both sides have a won three lost three record, so not much to split them there.

Blaydon after a great start to the season have fell of a little lately with three defeats in their last five matches.

Team news:

Prediction: Kendal win by less than seven points.

Macclesfield v Fylde

Three wins at home out of four matches so far this season see Macclesfield start favourites in the match against a Fylde side that on the road this season has managed just the one win.

Fylde will need to keep their discipline with the form of Gary Bell at the moment but the same could be said for their front line goal kicker Mike Scott who helped himself to 21 points last week in the win at Woodlands over Dudley Kingswinford.

Team news:

Prediction: Home win by 10 points.

Preston Grasshoppers v Darlington MP

Preston need to get a win to try and turn their season round after a number of close defeats they were well beaten at Blaydon last Saturday and need to get that defeat out of their system quickly. They are looking to avoid a sixth straight league defeat against a Mowden Park side looking for a third consecutive win. The visitors had a shaky start to the season but will hope now to kick on and climb the table and a win at Hoppers would help in this.

On the road though this season they have managed just the one win, at Dudley Kingswinford, out of four matches.

Due to a quirk in the fixtures Hoppers have only played three matches at home, with two wins, but in the six away games they have yet to avoid defeat. .

Team news:

Prediction: Hoppers to get back to winning ways with 10 point win.

Waterloo v New Brighton

Home banker should be but in a game like this you never con tell. Waterloo are in excellent form and remain unbeaten in the league with eight consecutive wins but have been pushed by both Liverpool St Helens and Darlington MP recently before coming through to take the points. At home though they have topped the 40 point mark three times and put 35 on Blaydon who have one of the tightest defences in the league.

New Brighton on the road this season have had an up and down time and have already suffered two defeats in four matches losing at Kendal and Blaydon but by no more than four points in either match.

Team news:

Prediction: Waterloo by 14 points.
