Terrace Talk - National Three North

Check out our weekly previews and predictions ahead of this weekends fixtures.

Darlington v Liverpool St Helens

This is a huge game for both sides as they look to avoid relegation at the end of the season. Darlington have shown tremendous form at home this season and have won seven out on nine at Blackwell Meadows with only Dudley and Waterloo leaving with the points.

LSH have not won in five with four defeats and a draw in that period and now find themselves in a relegation position three points from safety.

On the road they have a dreadful record losing all seven matches this season and is desperate need of getting that first away win.

Team news:

Prediction:  Real four pointer this one and Darlington to triumph less than 10 points.

Dudley Kingswinford v Kendal

Dudley Kingswinford entertain Kendal with three wins and a draw from their last six matches which has helped them move up to 11th three points clear of the relegation zone.

Kendal lie in seventh place on the back of three successive wins and if they could win here could rise to fifth place their best position of the season.

At home DK have done well of late and now have a 5-3 home record.

When the sides met earlier in the season Kendal were comfortable winners at Mint Bridge 32-7 and will be hopeful of completing the double over DK although they will need to improve their away form which has seen them pick up just three wins in nine matches.

Team news:

Prediction:  DK to take the points by less than seven points.

Halifax v Blaydon

Top of the table Halifax will be confident of maintaining their 100% home record with a win over Blaydon on Saturday.

Blaydon had won three in a row until they lost at Dudley Kingswinford a couple of weeks ago and that tells the storey of their season, inconsistent.

Away from home this season Blaydon have managed just three wins in nine matches they have also picked up a draw along the way.

When the sides met at Crow Trees earlier in the season it was Halifax who left with the points after a close encounter 25-20.

Team news:

Prediction:  Comfortable home win by 20 points for Halifax.

Longton v Darlington Mowden Park

Although losing their last game Darlington Mowden Park are one of the form sides in the league and an away win would seem favourite at Roughcote Lane.

Longton have still managed just the one win all season and will find DMP too strong for them despite the home advantage.

When the sides met earlier in the season DMP triumphed 28-10 and a double looks on the cards.

On the road this season Darlington Mowden Park have managed to pick up four wins in eight games and should be to powerful for Longton.

Team news:

Prediction:  Away win with DMP winning by 10 points.

Macclesfield v Preston Grasshoppers

Preston are actually above Macclesfield in our form guide covering the last six league matches. Hoppers who returned to winning ways last Saturday against Darlington have two wins in their last six matches whilst Macclesfield have a win and a draw over the same period.

Hoppers are going for a double over Macclesfield having already beaten them this season 24-22.

Hoppers though will have to break a run on the road of 11 straight defeats if they are to close the gap to safety which seems a long way off at present.

Macclesfield at home in their first ever season of National League rugby have picked up five wins and a draw from their eight matches and if they can carry that form through till the end of the season will finish mid table.

Team news:

Prediction:  Tough call but home win less than 10 points.

New Brighton v Fylde

Two wins in their last three matches have steadied the New Brighton ship a bit as they lie fourth spot a point behind third played Darlington Mowden Park.

At home their form has been good with seven wins out of nine and only Halifax and Waterloo leaving with the points.

When the sides met earlier in the season it was New Brighton who took the points with a 23-16 victory so will be confident of completing the double over Fylde.

Fylde on the road this season picked up two wins in eight road trips winning at Liverpool St Helens and Kendal.

Team news:

Prediction:  Home win by 14 points.

Waterloo v Tynedale

Got to go for a comfortable home win in this one as Waterloo look to continue their 100% start to the season with a home success over Tynedale whom they have yet to play as the match at Tynedale Park was called off earlier in the season and is re arranged for later in the season.

Tynedale on the road this season have done better than last season and already picked up four wins in nine matches but this will probably be a match to far.

Team news:

Prediction: Comfortable home win by 20 points.
