This was a match that Coventry really needed to win and at half time were well in the match with the sides locked at 15 all, but the second half after Coventry lost of the influential Gareth Cull saw Otley do all the scoring to secure the win.
Otley were first on the scoreboard when No 8 Ed Thorpe went over for an unconverted try. Coventry though were level in the 11th minute when centre John Cannon went over and with Cull converting the home side went ahead.
Simon Binns slotted over a 14th minute penalty goal to put the visitors in front. Otley increased their lead with full back Ian Shuttleworth going over for a try, which Binns converted for a 15-7 lead. Cull kicked a penalty goal on 34 minutes before a try from the other centre Nik Witkowski went over for a try, which sent them in level at the break.
Two Binns penalties in the opening 15 minutes of the half saw Otley go 21-15 ahead but a Binns try in the 68th minute which he also converted took the visitors 13 points clear and they maintained that lead till the end.
Exeter 85 (Tries: Vaili 2, Lewsey 2, Yapp 2, Trethewey, Brooking, Murdoch, Liddington, Ward, Richard Baxter, Liddington. Cons: Yapp 10.)
Manchester 6 (Pens: Brown 2.)
Exeter demolished Manchester with a 13 try demolition after running up a 38-6 lead with six tries scored.
Manchester took the lead with a Stuart Brown penalty goal in the second minute. The lead only lasted two minutes before Exeter were in front. Flanker Siaosi Vaili got the try on four minutes and eight minutes later he got his second and this time Tony Yapp converted for a 12-3 lead. Two minutes later and winger Ed Lewsey was over and it was 17-3 before Brown kicked a second penalty for the visitors.
They ran in three more tries in the final ten minutes of the half with Lewsey completing a double and Yapp converted all three for a 32-point half time lead.
In the second period Exeter ran in seven unanswered tries as Yapp bagged a brace to go with his 10 conversions for a 30 point haul, one of the club record for a league match but his 10 conversions was a club record for a league match.
Also on the score sheet was No 8 Richard Baxter with his 50th league try for the club.
Henley Hawks 33 (Tries: Gates, Ejikeme, James, Laird, Penalty try. Cons: Reeves 4.)
Worcester 16 (Tries: Pfister 3, Garrard 3, Davies, Windo, O’Leary, Officer, C Evans. Cons: Hayes 7.)
Comprehensive win for Worcester at Henley Hawks and with Orrell not playing this weekend they are now 18 points clear at the top of the National One league table. The only consolation for the Hawks was they got the try bonus for scoring four tries or more.
Gavin Pfister got thinks going with a try after just two minutes to give Worcester a 5-0 lead. Winger Wes Davies go the second in the 14th minute and this time Tommy Hayes converted for 12-0.
Henley then got on the scoreboard when the referee awarded them a penalty try in the 18th minute.
Pfister got a second on 23 minutes but Henley got a second two minutes later with flanker Adam Gates going over and with Reeves again converting they trailed by just five points at 19-14.
Worcester though ran in two more tries by the break with prop Tony Windo getting one of them to take him into double figures in the league this season and they went in 31-14 ahead.
There were tries at both ends in the second half as Henley continued to play there own rugby, they scored three tries in the second period but Worcester ran in six tries for a convincing win in a match that saw 102 points and 16 tries. Pfister went on to complete a hat trick in the 79th minute and join Lee Robinson at the top of the try scorers list with 18 Winger Chris Garrard bagged a brace in the opening minutes of the second half and completed his hat trick on 80 minutes. .
Penzance & Newlyn 20 (Tries: A Fatialofa, Thomas. Cons: Scrivener 2. Pens: Scrivener 2.)
Bedford Blues 20 (Tries: Saffy, Malone, Kirk. Con: A Hepher. Pen: A Hepher.)
Two points for the Pirates as they climb nine points clear of the second relegation place after this draw against Bedford Blues.
Full back Mark Scrivener gave the home side a 6-0 lead with a couple of early penalty goals. The Blues were on the scoreboard when hooker Paul Saffy crossed the home line to get back within a point.
Just after the half hour mark centre Ali Fatialofa went over and Scrivener converted and they went in 13-5 ahead.
Penzance seemed on for the win just a minute into the second half with centre Steve Thomas going over and Scrivener again converting for a 20-5 lead.
Bedford though dug in and responded well 15 points in the final quarter to get the draw. Scrum Dom Malone started things off with a try on 61 minutes, which Ali Hepher converted. On 70 minutes centre Tom Kirk went over for a try to get within three points.
They drew level on 75 minutes with Ali Hepher kicking a penalty goal and that was how it stayed with honours even.
Plymouth Albion 11 (Try: Ward-Smith. Pens: Barlow 2.)
Wakefield 7 (Try: Feeley. Con: Murphy.)
Before an excellent 2564 crowd Plymouth Albion took the win in a closely fought match against a Wakefield side who will be glad to have picked up a bonus point as a heavy defeat looked to be on the cards on recent form.
The first half was scoreless and it was six minutes into the second half before the scoreboard was in use. No 8 Dan Ward Smith crossed the Wakefield line for the games opening try, which Tom Barlow was unable to convert.
Barlow though took the 8-0 ahead with a 61st minute penalty goal. Then in the 76th minute they went 11-0 up with a second Barlow penalty goal.
Wakefield did have the final say with winger Jon Feeley going over the Albion line and Peter Murphy converted.
Bristol Shoguns 18 (Tries: Bailey, Martin-Redman. Con: Gray. Pens: Gray.)
London Welsh 30 (Tries: Bidwell 2, Strong. Cons: Pugh 3. Pens: Pugh 3.)
Excellent away win for the Welsh who are now five points clear of Bristol in eighth place in the National One league table.
The home side went ahead when Danny Gray slotted over a third minute penalty goal. Dylan Pugh drew the Welsh level in the 11th minute. The first try of the match came in the 19th minute when centre Adam Bidwell crossed the Bristol line and with Pugh converting they were 10-3 ahead. Before half time both Pugh and Gray added further penalty goal and the visitors went in 13-6 ahead.
In the second half Bidwell completed a double in the 52nd minute and with Pugh again on target the home side were 14 points down.
Just after the hour mark they were back within a score as winger James Bailey went over for a try, which Gray converted. Pugh took the Welsh two scores ahead when he kicked a penalty in the 72nd minute but a minute later the Shoguns were right back in it. They scored a try through No 8 Richard Martin-Redman and they were five points adrift.
The Welsh though had the final say when winger James Strong went over for an 80th minute try which Pugh converted
