Early in the second half Southend Full back Chris Green went over for the games first try and his side were 8-3 ahead.

Just before the hour mark it was all square again with right wing Simon Buckland going over for a try, which went, unconverted at 8-8.

The home side went ahead when Murray Roeske dropped a goal in the 63rd minute but with five minutes left Southend went over for the winning try.

It came from blindside flanker James Wagstaff and Chambers added the extras for a four point lead which was how it stayed till the end.
