PLAYER of the MONTH
James Aston– Moseley
Left winger James Aston picks up the February Player of the Month Award having been unlucky not to have picked up the award in January.
Moseley were surprise winners at Bracknell early in the month and Aston was instrumental with a hat trick in a 39-11 win. This followed on from his form the previous month when he ran in five tries in three matches and took his total for the season to 14, the best total in a season by a Moseley player since Darragh O’Mahoney scored 17 in the 1997-98 season.
“James is a young man who we picked up from Birmingham University the year before last. He comes from rural Worcestershire. He is very raw, having played little rugby at school, but has developed in leaps and bounds this year but still needs to develop his handling skills. He is however, 6'2", 15.5 stones, and fairly quick. He is a weight-training fanatic, and hence he bench presses more than most in our squad.”
