Old Colfeians 24 (Tries: Burton, Lock, Jarrett, Kennedy. Cons: Lewis 2.)
Redruth 28 (Tries: Thirlby, Vinnicombe, Lancaster, Cooper. Cons: Martin 4.)
Redruth are up to fourth place after this narrow away win at Old Colfeians with both sides scoring four tries but Redruth converted all four of their tries whilst the home side managed to convert two of their four.
A tight match all the way this one with the home side opening the scoring when No 8 Peter Burton went over for a 10th minute try which David Lewis converted for 7-0. By half time the scorers were level with Redruth centre Paul Thirlby crossing the line and Scott Martin converted.
In the second half two tries in the first ten minutes of the second half with winger Lewis Vinnicombe and No 8 James Lancaster, both converted by Martin and the visitors were 21-7 ahead. Four minutes later Old Colfeians were back on the scoreboard when centre Stuart Lock went over and Lewis converted. Just after the hour mark the visitors went two scores clear when hooker Glenn Cooper went over and again Martin converted.
The home side though scored two unconverted tries in the final ten minutes to close the gap but Redruth took the points.
Tabard 15 (Tries: Sloan, Sharp. Con: Colborne. Pen: Colborne.)
Old Patesians 17 (Tries: Mitchell, Field. Cons: Nock 2. Pen: Nock.)
Old Patesians are up to seventh place after this away win over Tabard whose dreadful run of form continues. The visitors took the lead when Robert Nock kicked an early penalty goal. Rob Colborne levelled for the home side before the visitors went back in front with a try from prop Peter Mitchell in the 31st minute that Nock converted for 10-3. Three minutes later and Tabard went over for a try through centre Luke Sloan and Colborne added the extras. Just before the break and Old Pats were ahead again with centre Dan Field going over and Nock converting for a 17-10 half time lead.
In the second half Tabard were right back in it when hooker Mark Sharp went over for his 15th try of the season and they trailed by two points with 23 minutes left on the clock. That though was the end of the scoring with the visitors getting the two points with a narrow win.
Launceston 25 (Tries: Birkett, Dyer, Heyns. Cons: Porter 2. Pens: Porter 2.)
Barking 7 (Try: Williams. Con: Azzopardi.)
Launceston continued their march towards the National Three South league title with this home success over Barking who had beaten them earlier in the season. .
Launceston did the damage in the first half building up a 22-7 lead with tries from full back Andy Birkett, and back row men Steve Dyer and Michael Heyns and the boot of Simon Porter converted two of them and slotted over a penalty goal.
Barking got a try when winger Lloyd Williams went over in the 35th minute and Justin Azzopardi converted.
In the second half the only addition to the scoreboard was a Porter penalty goal on 63 minutes as the home side took the two points to keep their Championship hopes alive.
Dings Crusaders 21 (Tries: Weaver, Seward. Con: Gasson. Pens: Gasson 3.)
Basingstoke 20 (Tries: Appleby, Buckland. Cons: Calder 2. Pens: Calder 2.)
Great win for Dings who are now just a point behind Haywards Heath now in the league table with four matches remaining.
They were made to fight all the way by Basingstoke and they took the lead on two minutes when Ian Calder slotted over a penalty goal. Two Waylon Gasson penalty goals on four and 13 minutes saw the home side go ahead 6-3. They went further ahead on 21 minutes when full back Dean Weaver went over for a try and an 11-3 lead.
The visitors replied well and went in ahead after flanker Simon Appleby went over for a try, which Calder converted on 29 minutes and four minutes later he slotted over a penalty goal for13-11.
In the second half Dings were ahead on 43 minutes with a third Gasson penalty goal. They went eight points clear in the 47th minute when fly half Nick Seward went over for a try and Gasson converted.
Just after the hour mark it was a one point game with centre Simon Buckland crossing the home line and Calder converting. That was how it stayed with Dings picking up two vital points as they try to climb the table.
Blackheath 26 (Tries: Penalty try, Goodey, Monighan, Fitzgerald. Cons: Coates 3.)
Haywards Heath 12 (Tries: Charnley, Mackie. Con: Griffiths.)
Two more points for Blackheath as they look to keep the pressure on Launceston at the top of the National Three South league table.
The visitors though were first on the scoreboard with an early try from full back Stuart Charnley, which went unconverted. The home side were ahead on 12 minutes when they were awarded a penalty try and Derek Coates added the extras. Haywards Heath though went back in front two minutes later with centre James Mackie going over and this time Hugh Griffin converted for 12-7.
Blackheath were level on the half hour mark when back row man Paul Goodey went over for a try. They went in at half time though ahead with flanker Andy Monighan scoring a 40th minute try, which Coates converted for 19-12.
The only score in the second period came from centre Dave Fitzgerald on 61 minutes and with Coates converting they were 14 points clear and that’s how it stayed till the end. .
Southend 49 (Tries: Singleton, Newham, Wagstaff, Smith 2, Shearing, B Green, Hyde. Cons: C Green 3. Pen: C Green.)
Westcombe Park 10 (Tries: Wolmarans, Daniels.)
Comprehensive win for the home side running in eight tries. They went ahead in the 8th minute when Chris Green slotted over an 8th minute penalty goal. The first try came on 15 minutes with centre Stuart Singleton crossing the Park line and they were 8-0 ahead. Scrum half Andy Newham got the second on 21 minutes and this time Green converted for 15-0. Two more tries by the 33rd minute saw the home side in a strong position at 27-0.
In the second half the home side ran in four more tries with centre Marc Smith completing a double to move onto 11 tries for the season.
The visitors did manage a couple of tries during the afternoon but were well out played.
Weston super Mare 25 (Tries: Edwards, Britton, Walters. Cons: Reid, Wiseman. Pens: Reid 2.)
North Walsham 33 (Tries: Loose, Rossouw, Borrett, Thomas, Penalty try. Cons: Wyatt 4.)
Weston’s poor run continues with this home defeat against third placed North Walsham.
The visitors were first on the scoreboard with prop Stuart Loose going over for a try in the 4th minute. James Reid then slotted over a couple of penalty goals to move 6-5 ahead on 25 minutes. A minute later right wing John Edwards went over for arty and the home side were 11-5 ahead. Walsham hooker Gideon Rossouw got a 38th minute try and with Jonny Wyatt converting the visitors went in 12-11 ahead.
They went further ahead eight minutes into the second period with centre Chris Borrett crossing the home line and Wyatt converted. On 62 minutes they were 26-11 ahead with No 8 Mark Thomas going over for a try and again the boot of Wyatt doing the rest.
Weston scrum half Matthew Britton got his side back in it with a try on 68 minutes and Reid converted. But the match was settled when the visitors were awarded a penalty try on 72 minutes and moved three scores clear. Centre Jamie Walters did get another try for the home side but it was too late and North Walsham left with the points. |
