Terrace Talk - National One

Check out our weekly previews and predictions.

National One

Henley Hawks v Orrell

Second placed Orrell travel to 12th placed Henley Hawks looking to keep their winning run going whilst Henley Hawks are desperate for points in their effort to avoid relegation.

These two sides are at the opposite end of the Form Guide with Orrell winning their last six matches and Henley Hawks have no win in their last six matches with four defeats and two draws in those six matches.

Orrell have already had two big wins over the Hawks this season at Edge Hall Lane with wins in the league and the Powergen Cup.

Team news:

Prediction: Away win for Orrell by more than 10 points.

London Welsh v Coventry

Second bottom Coventry travel to London Welsh desperate to try and pick up some points in their effort to avoid the drop down into National Two ahead of the move to their new stadium next season.

When the sides met at Counden Road earlier in the season Coventry were winners 25-17.

Coventry are looking to avoid a fourth successive defeat whilst the Welsh have returned to form recently and are looking for a fourth consecutive victory.

Team news:

Prediction: Home win by the Welsh and a 15-point margin.

Manchester v Pertemps Bees

The Pertemps Bees have gone through a bad spell in the league despite the Powergen Cup shock win over London Wasps. In the league they have lost their last three and four out of the last five and are in danger of being overtaken by Plymouth Albion for fourth spot in the division.

Already relegated Manchester are now playing for pride and with the Bees going through a sticky spell they will be looking to take advantage and pick up their second win of the season.

When the sides met earlier in the season at Sharmans Cross the Bees triumphed 39-12 and will be aiming to complete the double over Manchester and return to winning ways.

Team news:

Prediction:  Away win for the Bees by 21 points plus.

Otley v Bedford Blues

Fifth placed Otley entertain seventh placed Bedford Blues with Bedford knowing a win will move them above Otley in the league table.

Otley lost last time out to Orrell but before that had put together a three match winning run. The Blues had a good win last weekend at home to the Pertemps Bees and are unbeaten in their last four matches with three wins and a draw to their credit.

When the sides met earlier in the season Bedford with home advantage were 22-15 winners.

Bedford have yet to win at Otley since the Yorkshire side returned to National One back in 200/01 with two wins although Bedford did leave with a share of the points in April 2001 after a 17 all draw.

Team news:

Prediction:  Away win by less than seven points.

Plymouth Albion v Exeter Chiefs

Two of the form sides in National One met this weekend with fourth placed Plymouth Albion entertaining sixth placed Exeter Chiefs at Brickfields in front of what could be a record crowd.

Albion are looking to do the double over the Chiefs having won narrowly at the County Ground earlier in the season.

Exeter put up a good performance last time out against leaders Worcester before going down 25-14 but did stop them picking up a bonus point, and that ended a four match winning run.

Albion’s only recent defeat was also against Worcester and it was their only defeat in their last nine league matches as they close in on third placed Pertemps Bees.

Team news:

Prediction:  Home win by less than 10 points.

Wakefield v Penzance & Newlyn

This is a huge match for Wakefield who are just three points above the relegation zone with just two games left after this home fixture against Penzance & Newlyn

Wakefield have lost their last five in a row and need to try and turn that form round with a trip to Otley to follow this fixture before on the final day of the season they host Coventry in what could be a straight fight to see who stays up.

The Pirates seemed deep in trouble earlier in the season but have shown great form at home and managed to climb the table and are now in the lofty heights of 10th and knowing that a win here would make them mathematically safe although they are probably safe now because we would need some strange results for them to go down.

When the sides met earlier in the season the Pirates came out on top 22-7 but they have managed just two away wins this season so Wakefield will be hoping it stays at two.

Team news:

Prediction:  Home win by less than seven points.

Worcester v Bristol

Worcester are going for a 24th straight league win in this home fixture against ninth placed Bristol Shoguns who will be buoyed up after last weeks win at Penzance & Newlyn which saw them reach the Powergen Shield Final at Twickenham.

Bristol’s away form has not been their strong point this season with just three wins from their 11 road trips to date.

When the sides met earlier in the season Bristol gave the league leaders a run for their money before going down 10-3 in what was Worcester lowest score and narrowest win of the season.

Team news:

Prediction: Home success by 21 points or more.
