CLUBS are feeling the benefit of successfully completing the RFU Questionnaire after receiving the second installment of their conditional funding.
This latest tranche of £700,000, on top of the £900,000 paid in November, takes the Union’s funding of 1,036 clubs at level 5 and below this season to £1.6m
Successfully filling in the questionnaire has paid dividends for Worthing RFC, whose top score mean they have received £2,200 in this latest round.
Brian Vincent, Worthing’s Chairman of Administration, said: “The questionnaire acknowledges how much we provide for rugby in terms of activity level and a professional approach to running a community club. It has been useful in making us sit back and think ‘what are the things we should be doing?’.”
Carole Thelwall-Jones, the RFU’s Constituent Body Volunteer Manager, said: “The level of this second tranche of funding shows that the RFU is continuing to invest in clubs.
“But it also highlights the benefit of successfully meeting the criteria on the questionnaire. It is aimed at clubs improving themselves for the benefit of their members in line with the Community Rugby aims of more people, better places, access for all and enjoyment.”
