Terrace Talk - National Three South

Check out our weekly previews and predictions.

NATIONAL THREE SOUTH

Saturday 6th November

Barking v Reading

Fourth placed Barking will be looking to get back to winning ways this week with a home fixture against 10th placed Reading.

Barking after wins over Lydney, away, and North Walsham were really disappointed to lose at Old Patesians last weekend and miss out on the chance to climb the table.

Reading will be looking to build on the performance against third placed North Walsham last weekend when they pushed them all the way before going down to a late try.

They have yet to win away with both their wins this season coming at Holme Road.

These two sides last met in the 2000/01 season when the away side triumphed on both occasions. At Gorsebrook Reading were convincing winners 37-3 whilst in the match at Holme Road Barking ran out winners 27-20.

Prediction: Barking by 10 points.

Saturday 6th November

Havant v Weston Super Mare

13th place Havant entertain ninth place Weston super Mare knowing a win could see them climb out of the bottom three.

Havant have now won back to back matches after wins over top six sides Dings and Tabard and win could actually see them move past Weston in the league table.

Weston are searching for some form as they go into this game on the back of two successive defeats and have lost four of their last five in the league. They have won away from home this season winning on the opening day at Hayward’s Heath.

These two sides last met in the 2002/03 season when it was honours even although in this fixture Havant thrashed Weston 67-7 but it was not enough to stop them getting relegated. At the Recreation Ground Weston were 16-5 victors.

Prediction: Havant to win by less than seven points.

Saturday 6th November

Hertford v Old Patesians

Eight place Old Patesians travel to Hertford looking to build on last weeks excellent win over Barking narrowly 14-13 at home.

Old Patesians will be buoyed up after last weeks narrow win over in form Barking and will see this as the perfect chance of their second away win of the season having already won at Haywards Heath this season.

Hertford have picked up two wins this season and will see this as the sort of match they should be winning if they are going to stay out of the relegation zone.

First ever league meeting between these two sides.

Prediction: Old Patesians by less than seven points.

Saturday 6th November

North Walsham v Dings Crusaders

Second placed Dings Crusaders travel to third placed North Walsham in the game of the day in National Three South.

North Walsham have played just two matches at home this season and won them both although they were pushed all the way by Redruth before securing a one point win. They have suffered just the one loss this season going down at Barking two weeks ago.

Dings Crusaders have been the surprise package this season and a win here will show how serious their challenge is going to be this season. They won their first two away matches at Old Patesians and Southend but last time out were beaten at Havant which in the scheme of the season so far was a disappointing result. They had an excellent result last week in beating Redruth at home and will be quietly confident of getting a result.

These two sides met for the first time last season when it was North Walsham who did the double over Dings Crusaders who were in their first ever season of National League rugby.

At Scottow North Walsham were 15-0 winners whilst away they won 20-13 late in the season.

Prediction: North Walsham to win by less than eight points.

Saturday 6th November

Redruth v Tabard

Fifth placed Redruth are at home this week to sixth placed Tabard

The big difference between these to sides is defensively with Tabard having conceded 57 points more than Redruth so far this season which works out at nearly 10 more per match.

After winning three in a row since an opening day defeat Tabard have slipped back with successive defeats against Westcombe Park and Havant, at home.

Redruth were beaten at the weekend by Dings Crusaders and have now picked up just one win in their last four matches and need to start getting some wins on the board and will see this as a perfect opportunity to do so.

Over the last four seasons Redruth have dominated this fixture with six wins and two defeats. At home they have won all four encounters including a 26-15 win last season when it was honours even with Tabard winning their home match 34-17.

Two seasons ago Tabard got their best result at Redruth when going down narrowly 16-14.

Prediction: Redruth to win by 12 points.

Saturday 6th November

Southend v Lydney

Leaders Lydney travel to 12th placed Southend on Saturday looking to keep their top spot in the National Three South league table.

Lydney have won five out of six with only Barking managing to beat them in a tight match 11-9. They have won both their away matches at Old Patesians and Weston to date this season and will be confident of making it three out of three.

Southend picked up their first away win of the season on Saturday with a victory over bottom of the table Haywards Heath, and are now back in touch with the sides immediately above them in the league table.

These two sides will be meeting for the first time ever in league rugby.

Prediction: Lydney by seven points.
