Dings Crusaders v Barking

Match of the day in National Three South sees leaders Barking travel to Dings Crusaders looking to maintain their excellent recent form which has seen them open up a three point lead at the top of the table.  

 

Dings are looking to make it six in a row with a home win over leaders Barking and maintain their 100% home record which has seen them win seven in a row.   

 

Barking have won nine in a row since losing at Old Patesians at the end of October and in those nine matches they have picked up a four try bonus point each time. .  

On the road the loss at Old Patesians has been their only loss of the season away from Gorsebrook.   

 

Barking were comfortable winners when the sides met earlier in the season 46-7.

 

Prediction: Home win by less than six points.

Haywards Heath v Redruth

Bottom of the table Haywards Heath have a tough home fixture against an in form Redruth side.

 

Haywards Heath have lost two in a row since picking up their first win of the season at Tabard before Christmas and are 12 points behind second bottom Tabard.  

At home this season Haywards Heath have yet to pick up a win losing eight in a row.

  

Redruth have won nine in a row since losing at Dings Crusaders at the end of October.

Their comprehensive win over Lydney last weekend saw them pick up a four try bonus point for the first time in six matches. On the road they have picked up five wins and a draw in eight matches and only the top two have a better record on the road. .    

 

Redruth were 41-14 winners when the sides met earlier in the season.

  

Prediction: Away win by 12 points.

Hertford v Southend

Seventh placed Hertford entertain ninth placed Southend looking for a hat trick of wins to try and catch Havant above them.

 

After a losing run Hertford have put back to back wins together since the turn of the year to climb the table. At home they have a 50/50 record with four wins and four defeats.   

Where Hertford have struggled this season is scoring points with only three sides scoring fewer than them so far in the division.

 

Southend look to return to winning ways after a loss at Barking last Saturday and make it four wins on the road from eight matches this season.

 

Hertford are looking to do the double over Southend having already won 21-16 in the away fixture earlier on the season.

    

Prediction: Home win by less than six points.

Lydney v Havant

 

Fourth placed Lydney are looking to get their season back on track with a home win over sixth placed Havant who will see this as a good opportunity to leave Regentsholme with the points.

 

Lydney have lost four of their last four matches to drop out of contention at the top of the National Three League table. At home they have won six out of eight with Barking and Redruth leaving with narrow wins. Last time out at home it looked that they may have regained top form with a comfortable win over North Walsham to knock them off the top of the league table.  

 

Havant are sitting in sixth place a couple of places behind Lydney but the gap is 16 points. They have won three of their last five and on the road have not done two well with just two wins in six matches with their home form carrying them into sixth place.

 

Lydney were comfortable 36-16 winners when the sides met earlier in the season.

  

Prediction: Lydney to find form again and win by 10 points.

Old Patesians v Westcombe Park

 

10th placed Westcombe Park travel to 11th placed Old Patesians looking to end a poor recent run of results against opponents who have struggled lately with just one win in their last five matches.  

 

Old Patesians have the second worst home record in the division with three wins in eight matches, only Haywards Heath have a worse record. Old Patesians will go above Combe if they win and could climb to eighth place.  

 

Westcombe Park have lost five in a row now since winning 28-19 at Hertford at the end of November and are just two points clear of the relegation zone.       

On the road this season they have picked up two wins  

 

When the sides met earlier in the season Combe were 23-8 at Goddington Dene.

 

Prediction: Home win by less than six points.

Tabard v Reading

Second bottom Tabard take on eight placed Reading at Cobden Hill looking to end a losing run which has seen them drop into the relegation zone.

 

Tabard have now lost five in a row since beating Dings Crusaders at home 26-23 at the end of November. That was their third home win in five matches but since then they have lost to Haywards Heath and Barking.

 

Reading are going for a hat trick of wins and could climb as high as sixth with an away win here. On the road they have the worst record in the division with just one win and five points from eight matches.

 

Reading were 19-13 winners when they met earlier in the season.  

   

Prediction: Away win less than seven.

Weston super Mare v North Walsham

Third bottom Weston super Mare are at home to second placed North Walsham this Saturday looking to end a losing run which has seen them drop into the relegation zone.

 

Weston have managed three wins at home this season from seven matches and may have to wait a little while longer for the fourth win.

 

North Walsham were losers in their last away match at Lydney but will expect to return to winning ways at Weston. On the road this season they have managed six wins from their eight matches with defeats at Barking and Lydney, both top four sides.

 

When the sides met earlier in the season North Walsham were comfortable winners 37-0.  

   

Prediction: Away win by 12 points.
