Terrace Talk - National One

National One

Bedford v Rotherham

Fifth placed Bedford entertain 7th placed Rotherham at Goldington Road looking to get the win and move up to fourth in the National One League table.

Bedford’s recent form has been good with just one defeat in their last six matches.

At home this season they have lost just once in eight matches winning six and drawing one of the other seven matches.

A win for Rotherham could also see them rise to fourth place in the table as they look to finish the season strongly.

Rotherham are down in 9th place in the Form Guide but have picked up two wins in their last three matches and will be looking to keep their improved form going.

Rotherham have a dreadful away record this season with just two wins in seven matches plus the points form the Coventry match.

This match was originally to have been played on the opening day of the season but was postponed with Rotherham’s future still in doubt.

Prediction: Bedford to win by eight points.

London Welsh v Exeter

Second bottom London Welsh take on third placed Exeter Chiefs at Old Deer Park looking to climb above Henley Hawks in the table knowing a point should be enough.

London Welsh are down in 12th place in the Form Guide with no wins in their last six matches. They have picked up the most losing by seven or less bonus points in the division with five of the 15 defeats within this margin.

At Old Deer Park the Welsh have a poor record this season with just one win in nine matches picking up five bonus points along the way.

Exeter have won five of their last six match including a current run of four successive wins which saw them beat leaders Bristol Shoguns at the County Ground.

Exeter have won five of their seven matches on the road this season and will be confident of making it six wins this weekend.

Exeter have lost three times this season and picked up the losing by seven or less bonus point in each of those defeats.

When these sides met earlier in the season it was a tough game with London Welsh still in the game on the hour mark before going down to a 38-26 defeat.

Prediction:  Exeter to win by 14 points.

Bristol Shoguns v Penzance & Newlyn

Top of the table Shoguns look to get back to winning ways with a home win over eighth placed Penzance & Newlyn.

The Shoguns will be trying to get last weeks defeat out of their system with a home win over the Pirates after going down to just their second defeat of the season

Bristol at home this season have won eight out of nine with only Plymouth Albion leaving with a victory, 12-7.

Penzance & Newlyn with a tough away trip to the leaders on the back of some indifferent form on the road this season with three wins from their eight matches. They have lost their last two on the road at Exeter and Coventry. Orrell, London Welsh and Nottingham have been their only away wins,

When the sides met in Penzance earlier in the season it was the Shoguns who came out winners, 28-20.

Prediction:  Bristol to win by 14 points.
