Nottingham 17 (Tries: Molenaar, Thompson, Lea’aetoa. Con: Thompson.)
Exeter did what was necessary with the win and the bonus point to maintain their lead at the top of the table over the Shoguns who did the same on Monday night.
Nottingham did take an early 5-0 lead with fly half Ben Thompson touching down for 5-0. In the 10th minute the home side were ahead with right wing Ed Lewsey touching down and Tony Yapp converting. The lead only lasted six minutes before prop Tonga Lea’aetoa went over the home line and with Thompson converting this time they were 12-7 ahead.
A double form centre Stephen Ward either side of the half hour mark saw the home side go 19-12 ahead. Prop Richard Liddington went in for a try on the 40 minute mark, Yapp converted and added an injury time penalty goal to send them in 29-12 ahead.
Yapp opened the second half with a couple of penalty goal and with Liddington completing a double in the 47th minute the Chiefs were out of sight at 40-12. Yapp helped himself to a try just after the hour mark and with the conversion ended the match with 22 points.
London Welsh 16 (Tries: Mansfield, Pugh. Pens: Pugh 2.)
Orrell 3 (Pen: Moore.)
The Welsh got the win they needed to move out of the bottom two beating bottom of the table Orrell at Old Deer Park. .
The home side opened the scoring on ten minutes with No 8 Paul Mansfield going over for a try and a 5-0 lead. James Moore pulled three points back with a penalty goal three minutes later.
In the 18th minute the home side got try number two with fly half Dylan Pugh touching down but he was unable to convert and the home side were 10-3 ahead which was the way it stayed till half time.
The only scoring in the second half was a couple of penalty goals from Pugh in the 57th and 75th minutes.
Penzance & Newlyn 17 (Tries: Penalty try, Kelly. Cons: Jarvis 2. Pen: Jarvis.)
Otley 20 (Try: Mooney. Pens: Binns 5.)
A surprise away win for Otley at Penzance & Newlyn thanks to the boot of Simon Binns.
Binns put Otley ahead in the 3rd minute with a penalty goal. The Pirates though got the games opening try on 15 minutes with a penalty try from referee Geraint Ashton Jones. Binns then kicked three successive penalty goals to make it 12-7. Lee Jarvis kicked three points for the home side but Binns kicked a fifth before the break as the visitors went in 15-10 ahead.
In the second half centre Paul Mooney went over for a try on 50 minutes Binns was unable to convert and Otley were 10 points ahead.
Inside the final quarter the home side did manage a try with centre Wade Kelly touching down and Jarvis converted to make it a three point game but Otley held on for a valuable away success.
Plymouth Albion 25 (Tries: Pritchard, Fisilau, Schusterman, Too’ala/ Con: Pritchard. Pen: Pritchard.)
Pertemps Bees 17 (Tries: Baxter 2, P Knight. Con: Walsh.)
Nick Baxter gave the visitors the lead in the sixth minute with his 11th try of the season but it only lasted three minutes before Albion were over the Bees line. The try came from left wing James Pritchard, also his 11th try of the season, but he was unable to convert. The home side took the lead in the 22nd minute when centre Keni Fisilau went over and they were 10-5 ahead.
Pritchard got his first success of the afternoon with a 30th minute penalty and then converted a try from Argentine International back row man Martin Schusterman to take the home side in 20-5 ahead.
In the second half the Bees pulled five points back with a try form scrum half Paul Knight but five minutes later the home side restored their 15 point lead with a try from flanker Alfie Too’ala.
The Bees did have the last score with Baxter getting try number 12 for the season in the 53rd minute and Tim Walsh was on target this time to add the extras.
Rotherham 13 (Try: Wood. Con: Hopkinson. Pens: Hopkinson 2.)
Coventry 20 (Tries: Rheeders, Davies, Siviter. Con: Higgins. Pen: Higgins.)
How ironic that Coventry should win at Rotherham after all the issues revolving around their meeting earlier in the season. .
The home side were first on the scoreboard with wing Richard Hopkinson slotting over a couple of penalty goals. Jon Higgins pulled three points back for the visitors on 26 minutes but that was the end of the scoring in the first half with Rotherham holding a three point lead.
In the second half Coventry were ahead on 50 minutes with blindside flanker Hendry Rheeders going over for a try and an 8-6 lead. The next score did not come till the 74th minute when replacement full back prop Richard Siviter went in for a try and with Higgins converting the visitors were 15-6 ahead.
Three minutes later and they went further ahead with replacement full back Richard Davies touching down for a 20-6 lead.
Rotherham did manage to cross the Coventry line a minute later with left wing Mark Wood scoring and Hopkinson adding the extras but it was Coventry who got the win.
Sedgley Park 12 (Pens: Feeney 4.)
Bedford Blues 23 (Tries: Harris 2, Brady. Con: Hinton. Pens: Hinton 2.)
Bedford were ahead in the fifth minute with full back Mark Harris touching down for a 5-0 lead. Leigh Hinton took the Blues into an 11-0 lead with penalty goals in the 20th and 38th minutes.
In first half injury time the home side got off the mark with Blair Feeney slotting over his first kick of the afternoon.
In the second half Feeney got the first score with a second penalty goal five minutes in. For minutes later and the visitors were 12 points ahead with Harris completing a double and Hinton converting.
Feeney pulled six points back with a couple of penalties in the 52nd and 63rd minutes. The win was sealed for Bedford when replacement back row man Shaun Brady went over for a try in the 74th minutes to give the Blues an 11 point cushion.

Henley Hawks 14 (Tries: Tibbotts, Robinson. Cons: Reeves, Honeyben.)
Bristol ran out convincing winners after a Henley had the better of the opening half hour to lead 14-12 with tries form centre Dave Tibbott and left wing Matt Robinson. By half time the Shoguns had got a 26-14 lead and the bonus point was secured.
In the second half they were convincing winners running in five more tries with doubles for prop Alex Clarke and full back Sean Marsden. The kicking was split with Mark Woodrow converting three of the four first half tries and Danny Gray converting four of the five second half tries. |
