In at the Corner - National Three South

Dings Crusaders 8 (Try: Jones. DG Quartley.) 

Havant 37 (Tries: Avery 2, Ruthven 2, Morgan. Cons: Claffey. Pens: Claffey 2.) 

Havant move above Dings in the table with this impressive away win.    

Dings were first on the scoreboard when scrum half Ricky Jones went over for a 16th minute try. The visitors responded and were ahead in the 25th minute with Cam Avery going in for a try and centre Stephen Claffey converted. Dings went 8-7 ahead when fly half Dan Quartley dropped a goal.

After this though al the scoring went the way of Havant with Claffey slotting over a couple of penalty goals before the break to lead 13-8.

In the second half they ran in four tries with Avery completing a double to take his total to 17 for the season. There was also a double for the other wing Bruce Ruthven. 

     

Haywards Heath 8 (Try: Lake. Pen: Ashton.) 

Hertford 61 (Tries: Roberts 3, Church 3, Barella, Manion, Wilson. Cons: Barella 8.) 

Hertford make it back to back wins with this huge away win at bottom of the table Haywards Heath running in nine tries.

There were hat tricks for right wing Adam Roberts and flanker Alfie Church. Neil Barella converted eight of the nine tries and went over for a try in a 21 point haul.    

They scored four tries in the first half and were 26-8 up after 40 minutes.

 

Lydney 30 (Tries: Macrea 3, Jenkins, Turoa. Con: Westall. Pen: Westall.) 

Old Patesians 22 (Tries: Pettigrew, Wilks, Penalty try. Con: Wilks.) 

Lydney were back to winning ways with this home win over Old Patesians but are still 14 points behind third placed Redruth.

Old Patesians were ahead early on with the games opening try. Flanker Dean Jenkins got the home side ahead when we went over for a 21st minute try which Adam Westall converted. A few minutes later they went further ahead with winger Andy Macrea touching down for 12-5. The other flanker Regan Turoa got try number three on the half hour mark to make it 17-5. Before half time James Pettigrew pulled five points back for Old Patesians with a try.

Westall kicked a penalty early in the second half before the visitors were awarded a penalty try on 56 minutes and with the conversion they were just three points behind.         

Lydney went eight points clear when Macrea completed a double on the hour mark. Old Patesians though refused to go away and they got a fourth try in the 75th minute to make it a three point game with full back Chris Wilks touching down.

Macrea though sealed the win foe the home side as he completed his hat trick in the 78th minute to take him to 12 for the season.  

 

North Walsham 5 (Try: Malone.) 

Barking 12 (Tries: Skurr, Mee. Con: Montgomery.) 

The battle of the top tow went the way of the away side as Barking took the win and went five points clear at the top of the table  whilst North Walsham have Redruth breathing down their neck just two points behind.

The visitors were ahead on 21 minutes when centre Anthony Skurr went over for a try and Ben Montgomery converted.

The home side responded five minutes later with flanker Tim Malone touching down for an unconverted try and that was the way it stayed till half time.

In the second half the only score sealed the win for the visitors with left wing Casey Mee going in for the try and the win was Barkings.     

 

Reading 23 (Tries: Chandler, Caruana, Brooks. Con: Chandler. Pen: Chandler. DG: Caruana.) 

Redruth 48 (Tries: Harper 3, Vinnicombe, Van Der Walt, Carroll, Bonds, Thirlby. Cons: Brown 4.) 

Redruth continue to apply the pressure on the top two with this emphatic win away at Reading and again they pick up the four try bonus point.   .  

Reading were in the match for over an hour before the visitors pulled away with a powerful second half performance which saw them run in five tries.

At half time they were 17-11 ahead scoring three tries whilst the home side managed just the one.

Early in the second half they pulled back to within a point with centre Jamie Caruana going in for a try six minutes into the half. Redruth though responded with two tries in four minutes to go 29-16 ahead with hooker Harper bagging a brace.

Reading’s other centre Nick Brooks got another try and with Michael Chandler converting they were back within six of Redruth.

Redruth though got three more tries in 11 minutes to finally kill off Reading and Harper completed his hat trick.

 

Tabard 20 (Tries: Valentine 2, James. Con: Colborne. Pen: Colborne.) 

Westcombe Park 23 (Tries: Greenaway, Milloy, Chitty. Con: Barnett. Pens: Barnett 2.) 

Excellent away win for Westcombe Park which puts them 10 points clear of the relegation zone whilst Tabard are now 10 points form safety.

Nearly all the scoring was done in the first half with the visitors 18-15 ahead Sam Barnett kicked the home side ahead with a penalty goal in the 3rd minute but four minutes later Tabard were ahead with wing Simon Valentine going in for a try, three minutes later and Combe were back in front with a second Barnett penalty goal.

Rob Colborne kicked the home side ahead in the 13th minute but the lead lasted just two minutes before Combe went over for a try with centre Sam Greenaway touching down and Barnett converting for 13-8.     

The score changed hands again just three minutes later with Tabard going ahead with flanker Ben James crossing the Park line and with Colborne converting they were 15-13 ahead.

The fast paced scoring continued four minutes later with the final score of the half as Combe went back in front with second row Rob Milloy getting the second visitors try. 

14 minutes into the second half and Westcombe Park went 23-15 ahead with no 8 Rupert Chitty touching down.

Just after the hour mark and Tabard made it a three point game with Valentine getting his second try in what turned out to be the final score of the half.

 

 

 

Weston super Mare 33 (Tries: Williams 3, Glen. Cons: Coleman, Curgenven. Pens: Coleman 3.) 

Southend 8 (Try: Gates. Pen: Du Toit.) 

Just the win Weston needed and they are now within three points of safety after taking all five points scoring four tries thanks to two late efforts in the final four minutes.    

The first half was even with the sides going in 8 all.

Neil Coleman slotted over two penalties in the opening eight minutes of the second half to move Weston 14-8 ahead.

They got a second try on 49 minutes with centre Matt Williams touching down and Coleman converted for 21-8.

Williams was the hero of the day with tries in the 76th and 80th minutes to complete his hat trick and takes his total for the season to seven and secure the bonus point.
