Terrace Talk - National Two

Check out our weekly previews and predictions

National Two

Blackheath v Nuneaton

9th placed Blackheath entertain bottom of the table Nuneaton 10 points clear of the relegation zone with six matches remaining.

Blackheath have now put together a two match winning run after a four match losing run which saw them to close for comfort in the battle to avoid the drop.

They were winners at Stourbridge last time out with home advantage would fancy their chances of making it three in a row. At home this season they have done so so with four wins and a draw from their ten matches at the Rectory Field this season in the league.

With home fixtures against Doncaster and Manchester to come this is there best chance of a home success for the remainder of this season.

Nuneaton are up in sixth place in the Form Guide with three wins and a draw in their last six matches. After looking dean and buried at one stage this season they have clawed their way back to the pack and with their last win joined Rosslyn Park on 28 points.

On their travels this season Nuneaton have picked up just two wins in 10 matches.

A win here for Nuneaton would give them another boost as they look to make a late charge to get out of the relegation zone and with other away fixtures against fellow strugglers Rosslyn Park and Esher still to come who knows.

When these two met earlier in the season Blackheath left Liberty Way with a 22-5 win.

Prediction: Nuneaton to leave with the win by seven points.

Bracknell v Manchester

10th placed Bracknell entertain Manchester who have dropped to sixth place in recent weeks after a short spell in third.

Bracknell are up in fourth place in the Form Guide despite suffering consecutive defeats. They are still not out of trouble although they are eight points clear of a relegation place. They do have two really tough matches yet at home after this with the top two still to come to Bracknell.  They will be looking for a win in this match and their other home match when Blackheath are the visitors.

At home this season they have picked up four wins in their nine matches to date.

Manchester have now lost three in a row and from looking like challenging for a top two spot find themselves 14 points behind second placed Newbury.

On the road this season they have not done to well with just three wins and a draw in 10 matches.

When these two met earlier in the season it was a comfortable 36-3 win for the North West side.

Prediction: Manchester to win by seven points.

Doncaster v Waterloo

Leaders Doncaster entertain fourth placed Waterloo looking to maintain their 15 point lead at the top of the table.

Doncaster have a 100% record at home this season but could find this a difficult against an in Form Waterloo side.

With four matches at home and just two away in the run it to the end of the season Doncaster are strong favourites for the title and could probably afford to lose three matches. They do though still have Newbury and Moseley to come at home after this one.

Waterloo are third in the Form Guide with five wins in their last six matches and have climbed the table rapidly in recent weeks and will fancy their chances of an upset.

Waterloo will want to win this one as they will probably have to will all six matches if they are to challenge Newbury or Moseley for second place.

On the road this season, Waterloo have picked up six wins in 10 matches picking up 29 points on their travels.

Prediction: Home win for Doncaster but only by less than six points.

Harrogate v Rosslyn Park

Huge game for both sides at Claro Road with third bottom Harrogate entertaining second bottom Rosslyn Park. If Nuneaton win at Blackheath whoever loses this game will find themselves bottom of the table and in serious trouble.

A victory for Harrogate could put them within a win of overtaking Esher and Bracknell who have tough games at the weekend in a game they have to really win to have a chance of catching those sides.

At home this season Harrogate have picked up three wins and a draw in their 10 home games to date.

Park know this is a game they must win as they have three tough away games left in their last five fixtures after this one at Launceston, Newbury and Stourbridge whilst one of their home fixtures is against leaders Doncaster.

On the road this season they have managed just two wins in nine matches at Esher and Nuneaton.

When the ides met earlier in the season at Park they were comfortable 48-10 winners.

Prediction: Home win by eight points.

Moseley v Stourbridge

Third placed Moseley entertain 7th placed Stourbridge looking for the win to keep the pressure on second placed Newbury in the battle for promotion.

Four wins in the last five matches has seen Moseley move into third place in the table and within striking distance of second placed Newbury.

Moseley have a great home record with just one loss in ten matches to date with only Newbury leaving with a victory.

Stourbridge are going through a bad spell and have picked up just one win in their last four matches and last time out were well beaten at home by Blackheath.

On the road they have the third best record in the division with six wins and a draw from their ten matches.

At Stourton it was a home win earlier in the season with Stourbridge comfortable winners, 34-16.

Prediction: Home win by nine points.

Newbury v Esher

Second placed Newbury will be looking to beat 11th placed Esher to keep the pressure on the leaders who have a tough home match against an in Form Waterloo.

Newbury have a great home record this season winning nine out of ten and only Doncaster, 24-15 have left with the win.

They will be looking to bounce back form the loss at Waterloo two weeks ago and keep ahead of the chasers in the battle for second place.

Esher are in the middle of a good spell with three wins in their last four matches, a run which has seen them move up the table and seven points clear of the relegation zone.

On the road this season they have the worst record in the division with just one win and eight defeats in nine matches away from home.

Early in the season Esher were winners over Newbury at home beating them 16-7.

Prediction: Home win by eight points.

Wharfedale v Launceston

8th placed Wharfedale entertain 5th placed Launceston at Threshfields with the home side looking to get back to winning ways after successive defeats.

Wharfedale have slipped of late and won just one of their last five matches in the league. At home this season they have won six out of 10

They are in a real mid table position safe of relegation but too far back to make an impression at the top but a good end of season run would be welcome.

Launceston after a run of defeats have stemmed the tide and won two of their last three and a win here could see them go above Waterloo who have a tough trip to Doncaster.

If Launceston were to win here they could go on and win their final five matches as they have a good run in with only an away match at Moseley likely to cause them problems.

Wharfedale were winners at Polson Bridge earlier in the season coming through 16-11.

Prediction: Home win by five points.
