The Friday night match went the way of Nuneaton who moved of the bottom of the National Two league table with this win over Moseley.
Moseley were first on the scoreboard with a try form hooker Adam Caves in the 8th minute. Nuneaton responded well and with tries form full back Matt Cardey and centre Jody Peacock and with both converted by Gareth Cull and the home side were 14-5 ahead after 32 minutes. In first half time injury time Ollie Thomas pulled three points back with a penalty goal.
In the second half Cull slotted over three successive penalties in the second half to move 23-8 ahead. Just after the hour winger Nathan Bressington went in for his 14th try of the season and Thomas added the extras. Nuneaton though restored their 15 point lead with a try on 69 minutes from winger Alex Williams and Cull converted.
Moseley finished strongly with a try on 75 minutes from Thomas and he converted that and closed to five points to pick up the bonus point with a late Thomas penalty goal.
Rosslyn Park 11 (Try: Dench. Pens: Gunn 2.)

Park remained bottom on Saturday after this home loss to rivals Esher at home and are now 14 points from safety.
Esher got a great start with scrum half John O’Reilly getting his 9th try of the season, the in form Neil Hallett missed the conversion but made it 8-0 with a penalty goal on 10 minutes.
Lewis Gunn pulled three points back with a 22nd minute penalty goal. Before half time Esher took control with tries from the back row pair of Chris Wilkins and Thomas Guess and with Hallett adding a conversion they went in 20-3 ahead.
Gunn pulled three points back on 58 minutes but in the 62nd minute left wing Piers Gregory secured the four try bonus point and Hallett again converted. Park did get the final score but the game was over when centre Adrian Dench touched down.
Doncaster 33 (Tries: Yates 2, Harrison. Cons: Liley 3. Pens: Liley 4.)
Newbury 29 (Tries: Nutt, Tuamoheloa, Cooper 2, Styles. Cons: Harvey 2.)
Doncaster beat their nearest rivals Newbury in a match which could have gone either way and in the process secured promotion to National One with four matches to go, their next target is the Championship which they could wrap up now next time out.
Rob Liley gave the home side a 3-0 lead with a penalty in the opening minute. Newbury responded well and by the 15th minute were 12-3 ahead with tries form left wing Martin Nutt and flanker Sione Tuamoheloa and fly half Dave Harvey converted one of them.
Doncaster though were in front by the break with Liley kicking a second penalty goal and then converting a 40th minute try from centre Chris Yates and a 13-12 lead.
The third quarter belonged to the home side as they extended their lead to 30-12 with tries form scrum half Charlie Harrison and a second from Yates whilst Liley converted both and added a penalty goal.
Newbury though refused to lie down and scored two tries in eight minutes just after the hour with hooker Glenn Cooper and No 8 Matt Styles touching down to get to within eight of the home side.
Liley gave the home side an 11 point lead with a fourth penalty goal. Newbury did manage the final score to get within four as Cooper completed a double and Harvey added the extras as they left with two bonus points. .
Launceston 23 (Tries: Williams, Birkett, Reed. Cons: Con: Perry. Pens: Perry 2.)
Blackheath 29 (Tries: Walton, Brett, Trace, Moyo. Cons: McCashin 3. Pen: McCashin.)
With the results below them it was a great win for Blackheath otherwise they could have been within five points of a relegation spot and at one stage the win looked a long way off as they trailed 23-8.
The visitors were 8-0 ahead in the opening 11 minutes with flanker Dom Walton touching down and Steve McCashin slotting over a penalty goal.
Launceston though took over the scoring then with Steven Perry slotting over a penalty goal and on 20 minutes they were ahead with flanker Stuart Williams crossing the Blackheath line and Perry converted for 10-8. Perry extended the lead with a second penalty goal and in the 37th minute full back Andrew Birkett touched down and they led 18-8 at the break. They extended that lead early in the second half with prop Wayne Reed getting the third try and at 23-8 it looked game over.
Blackheath though had other ideas and with prop Des Brett and full back Chris Trace scoring tries and McCashin converting both it was a one point game with 14 minutes left at 23-22.
Blackheath snatched the win when right wing Prince Moyo went over the home line to secure the win and pick up the four try bonus point, which could prove important at the end of the season.
Manchester 22 (Tries: Wilson, Armstrong, Wood. Cons: Leyden 2. Pen: Leyden.)
Wharfedale 22 (Tries: Horsfall 2, Renton. Cons: Davies 2. Pen: Davies.)
This mid table game ended with honours even although Wharfedale will be disappointed at losing a 22-3 lead.
Left wing Simon Horsfall bagged a first half double and second row Oliver Renton scored the tries and Jonathan Davies converted two of them and slotted over a penalty goal. Manchester got a 7th minute penalty goal and with half time approaching full back Andre Wilson went in for a try and Leyden converted to go in trailing 22-10 at the break.
In the second half it took four minutes for Manchester to get within striking distance with a try from hooker Michael Armstrong which Leyden converted.
It was all square on 65 minutes when Manchester right wing David Wood went over for a try which went unconverted.

Great win for Harrogate as they look to stage a late rally to avoid the drop thanks to a great first half.
Harrogate took the lead in the 4th minute with right wing Steve Parsons continuing his excellent recent run and with Lee Cholewa converting they were 7-0 ahead. Cholewa added a penalty goal and with hooker Mark Erven getting a try on 15 minutes to go 15-0 ahead. The home side were off the mark on 19 minutes with Duncan Hughes slotting over a penalty goal but Harrogate extended their lead with Cholewa getting a second penalty goal and then just before the half hour mark Parsons got a second try and they went in 23-3 ahead.
Three minutes into the second half Hughes got a second penalty goal for the home side but a minute later wing James Tapster put the visitors further ahead with his 12th try of the season and securing the bonus point in the process.
Two tries in a few minutes saw the home side close the gap to 10 points with scrum half Toby Handley and flanker William Rowley scoring tries to make it 28-18.
On 66 minutes Harrogate got a fifth try with Cholewa touching down and adding the conversion.
Stourbridge staged a late rally with two more tries as Handley got a second and with Ben Harvey getting the fourth in injury time the home side secured two bonus points.

Comprehensive win for Waterloo who are up to fourth spot in the table whilst Bracknell find themselves within four points of a relegation spot.
Three tries in the opening 15 minutes saw the home side go 19-0 ahead before the visitors got on the scoreboard with flanker Daniel Legge touching down and Andrew Frost adding the conversion.
Waterloo though went back on the attack and added four more tries to go into a 45-7 lead, before Bracknell got the final try of the half from Frost. Scrum half Craig Aikman scored a double as Waterloo ran in seven tries in the opening 40 minutes and Anthony Handley slotted over five conversions. In the second half centre Sean Casey added to his first half try going onto complete a hat trick with his final try coming in injury time. The only positive for the visitors was that they scored two second half tries and did pick up a bonus point which could prove vital at the end of the season. |
