Great win for Altrincham Kersal to help then in their battle to avoid the drop.
Chester were first on the scoreboard with a Simon Verbickas penalty goal. Four minutes later and the home side took the lead, and stayed in front from thereon in, with second row Arthur Mate touching down. Full Paul Edwards got the second home try and they were 10-3 ahead. Chester pulled a try back just before the half hour mark with scrum half Ellis touching down but before the break the home side got a third try through wing Joel Petite to go in 15-8 ahead.
In the second half they pulled further ahead with two tries in the opening six minutes with Edwards and Petite completing doubles and with Rick Wainwright kicking a conversion they went 22-8 ahead.
Chester pulled seven points back with a try on the hour but a couple of Wainwright penalty goals kept the home score ticking over although Chester did manage a third try in the 78th minute but it was the home side who had the final score with scrum half Wayne Morris crossing the visitors line in the 80th minute to round off an important win.

Comfortable win for Hull at Birkenhead Park with a nine try display to draw level with second placed Hull Ionians on 28 points but they do have a couple of games in hand on Ionians.
Five tries in the first half saw Hull go in 27-3 ahead with five different try scorers.
In the second half they scored four more tries with wing Danny Smith going on to complete a double and all four were scored by the backs.

West Park St Helens 32 (Tries: Callaghan 2, Wilson, Turner. Cons: Soutar 3. Pen: Soutar 2.)
Match of the day went the way of West Park St Helens who put a huge dent in Ionians promotion push.
At half time the home looked in command and on their way to victory as they led 16-7. Scrum half Michael Aspinall got a try for the home side whilst Mark Jasnikowski converted it and slotted over three penalty goals. The visitors got a try in the 12th minute with scrum half Darren Wilson converting.
The game turned in the opening 11 minutes of the second half as Park scored two tries to go 22-16 ahead with Soutar converting one of them and slotting over a penalty goal.
A few minutes later and Ionians were back in front with a try from left wing Chris Cain and Jasnikowski converted for 23-22.
Park though were not finished and came right back into it with centre Ian Callaghan touching down and Soutar converted before sealing the win in the 71st minute with a penalty goal. .

With Vale of Lune and Altrincham winning Middlesbrough needed to as well and produced the goods running in nine tries for a comprehensive win.
At half time the home side were ahead 17-3 with three tries from the second row pair of David Hinckley and Ian Bradford and full back Simon Moore.
The second half was a different story with the home side running in six tries with scrum half Peter Wright grabbing a hat trick and Moore going on to complete a double.
Preston Grasshoppers 42 (Tries: Morton 2, A Lough, Podmore, Houston, M Lough. Cons: Bailey 3. Pens: Bailey 2.)
Morley 22 (Tries: S Bradshaw, Bell, Wilks. Cons: Stephens 2. Pen: Stephens.)
Hoppers got a good start going 13-0 ahead in the 15th minute with Paul Bailey slotting over a couple of penalty goals and converting a try from no 8 Richard Morton.
Colin Stephens licked a penalty for Morley to pull three points back but right wing Andrew Lough got the second Preston try as they moved into an 18-3 lead. Morley were over the home line on 23 minutes with winger Karl Bradshaw crossing the home line but by half time Preston scored a third try with the other Lough brother Michael touching down and with Bailey on target try went in 25-8 ahead at half time. .
Morley got the opening score in the second half with flanker Tim Wilks scoring a try but after that Hoppers responded well with two more tries as Morton completed a double and centre Scott Podmore touched down. Both sides scored tries late on but by them Hoppers were home and dry and remain on course for the Powergen North One title.

Vale maintained a four point gap ahead of the bottom three as they look to stay out of the relegation zone.
It was a tight first half with Simon Worsley slotting over three penalty goals for the visitors whilst the home side managed a try through centre Neil Bennetts, converted by Matt Jones and then with half time approaching they went back in front with full back Stuart Blackburn slotting over a penalty goal.
In the second half it took till the 63rd minute for the score to change with the home side getting a second try as the other centre Tyrone Sorour went over the LSH line and it was 15-9.
In the 72nd minute LSH took the lead with replacement wing Chris Stable touching down and with Worsley converting they were a point ahead 16-15. Vale though took the points thanks to a 76th minute penalty goal form Blackburn leaving LSH looking in serious trouble in the relegation zone. |
