Grand Draw 2008/09

Clubs Keep 90% in the Grand Draw - and it Kicks Off  in October

I am delighted to tell you that in the five years the Draw has been running, the sum received by the clubs who have participated now exceeds £1.4 million!

Last year’s Grand Draw raised over £442,000 of which 90% - about £400,000 – is with the 697 clubs which took part, as tax-free donations from the Rugby Football Union Draw Society.

25 Clubs raised £2,500 or more and another 101 over £1,000.  The Highest Amount Raised was £8,309!What are the benefits of taking part?

For clubs who did not take part last year, or for new Hon. Secretaries, participation involves:

  • NO COST to your Club
  • NO RISK to your Club
  • MINIMAL TIME in organising ticket sales, AND
  • YOU RECEIVE 90% of the sales value of the tickets sold as a tax-free donation

Some clubs already organise their own draws but must first put together an attractive prize list – never easy – and then arrange and pay for tickets to be printed before persuading members to sell them, plus finding the time to do all the organisation .

The benefit of this Scheme is that everything is provided – even the postage is pre-paid.

A SUPERB PRIZE LIST is being put together with over 40 prizes and a total value likely to exceed £40,000.  There are some SUPER CLUB PRIZES to be won too for raising the most money.

All clubs need to do is organise the sale of £1 tickets – a task made very easy with such a superb prize list.

Our Starter Kit contains:

  • a Leaflet which tells you all about the Scheme
  • what to do, how to do it  and when, etc.
  • a Poster for your club’s notice board
  • a Returns Form – very simple and for completion at the end of the Scheme
  • a Reply Card for ordering more books, as many as you think you can sell
    and
  • a Starter Quantity of 10 books of tickets (£1 each; 5 per book) to get you going

The Kit is sent automatically by post to the Hon. Secretary of all RFU and RFUW Member Clubs (plus Referee Societies/Federations and Constituent Bodies) week commencing 13th October 2008, so you have 4 months to sell the tickets before the Draw takes place on 24th March 2009.

Make sure your Club takes part.  If you would like to pre-register, please click here for the Response Form and fill it in - now!

PS     Don’t miss out – it’s too good an opportunity.  If you decide not to pre-register tell your Secretary to keep an eye open for the Starter Kit around mid October.
