sports coach UK Coach Education Provision for Elite Level Coaches

sports coach UK (scUK) is an organisation dedicated to providing coaches with a backbone of high quality knowledge and sharing of good practice to assist the role of developing talent. The recent Olympic Games highlighted the joy and exhilaration but also the pain and despair that accompanies high performance sport.

scUK's upcoming series of High Performance Coaching Workshops (HPCW) aim to identify best practice and in some cases challenge the current thinking behind the multi-faceted preparation of an athlete's training programme. Colin Allen, Lead Officer for the HPCW series looks forward to the next suite of workshops.

Working with partner organisations such as EIS and sportscotland has helped to identify the needs of high performance coaches on both a regional and national level. The workshop series aims to provide the latest up-to-date information delivered by expert speakers to confirm good practice and unpick common myths and misinformation in order to ensure that coaches can give their athletes the best preparation possible to produce their best performance when it matters.

Coaches who have attended previous HPCW have developed an understanding of the foundational principles of high performance coaching, shared coaching practice at an elite level, and participated in carefully designed practical simulations to further enhance the learning experience.
