Wansbeck girls take to the field

A rainy Sunday brought girls from all corners of Northumberland to compete in

the U14 girls rugby in the Youth Games in Ashington. There were four teams involved from Morpeth, Tynedale, Berwick and Wansbeck. This is the first time that Wansbeck have fielded a team in this event and the girls did themselves proud. An advanced version of 'tag rugby' was played with uncontested scrums and lineouts and some fantastic lines of running were demonstrated by members of all four teams, with some of the girls showing skills that would put their male counterparts to shame!

Tynedale emerged victorious through the rain drops, but all the competitors had a great time despite the weather!
