Level A - Women into High Performance Coaching
Level ‘A’ is designed for experienced female coaches working at PDA/International Level and currently completing their Level III or above, with the qualities necessary to become an elite coach. In addition Level A coaches may be invited to be a part of the Women into High Performance Coaching Scheme (WiHPC), a project in running in partnership with the Women’s Sports Foundation, Sportscoach UK and several other National Governing Bodies for Sport. Funding will be available up to £300 to pay for identified courses or for travel and subsistence.
There are two places available on this level for this season. Coaches have to apply using the application form and submit an action plan for their own development. Coaches will then be required to attend an informal interview. An agreed number of coaching hours will be required during the year and a personal action/development plan agreed.
Mentors
We are also looking to recruit women and men to act as RFUW Mentors for the coaches on this scheme. Ideally we would like to be able to provide women with a mentor in their local area. Ideally mentors will already have a RFU Mentor or Coach Developer qualification or will have undergone Sports Coach UK generic mentor training. Previous experience of supporting coaches (ideally female coaches) in their development is preferable in either an official or unofficial capacity. Ideally mentors will be qualified to Level III standard or working towards it, however greater emphasis will be placed on background and experience.
Remuneration is up to £200 for the season, per mentee depending on the qualifications and experience of the mentor. They will be expected to meet with their mentee a minimum of 6 times a season. These sessions can be practical, observation or classroom based and training and support is provided.
