Slingbacks Toos Triumph

RPFC Slingbacks Too 55 – East Grinstead 17

The Slingbacks new second team won their first ever league game comfortably at The Rock on Sunday. The Toos, lead by captain Tara Hodgkinson, took control of the game with a try in the first 5 minutes.

Dominating in open play, Alex Burbidge was able to make use of some excellent continuity, and her ability to read the game, to run in four tries. Player of the Day went to blind-side flanker Tara Dunn who battled hard all afternoon, chased every ball and was first to every breakdown.

Coach Martyn Worsley commented: “Bringing together experienced and new players alike to deliver a commanding victory such as this over East Grinstead is not easy. Much hard work was shown by all, and it has provided a great platform for the rest of the season. Many players who featured are pushing hard for 1st team places which is great to see

Full back Becky Young, playing her first game for Park, and lock Lucy Ross Mackenzie were also singled out for their notable performances in a game where the whole team played as one.

Currently lying in third place in women’s south east south division 4, the Slingbacks Too are looking to consolidate their position and push for promotion. They welcome new members throughout the season and with the Slingbacks 1sts any ability is catered for.
