UNDER 14’s GIRL’S SQUAD
The Ellingham and Ringwood Under 14’s Girl’s squad started the season in style by winning the Hampshire Tournament at Sparshott College on Sunday 11 September.
The squad also won this tournament last year and during the season won several other trophies at the Worthing Tournament, the Crawley Tournament and the London & the South East 7’s. A number of their players then went on to represent both Hampshire and the Region and as the tournament was being used as part of the selection process for the Hampshire squad, this should mean that a number of the girls would have caught the selectors’ eye.
The team’s coach Steve Benson said, “I was very pleased with our performance, particularly as this tournament comes so early in the season. There were clearly a number of areas where we need to improve, but this is a good way to start our season.” He added, “This year we are in the top division of the London & the South East league and we are all looking forward to our first league game against Worthing next month”.
If any girls are interested on playing rugby they should contact Steve Benson on (01425) 474991.
