Richmond WRFC, Europe’s most successful women’s club, celebrates its 20th anniversary next September. The women's section is hosting a special invitation 20th anniversary celebration dinner at the Athletic Ground on Saturday 23rd September 2006 and is eager to trace everyone who has played for the club since it was formed in the 80s.
Originally founded in 1986, Richmond is now the largest and most successful senior women’s club in England running three teams, two in the Premiership leagues and a development team, known as the Impalas, that competes in the National Challenge league South East 2.
Said Jenny Sutton, Richmond and England lock and chair of the women’s club, “This is going to be a massive celebration of two decades of rugby achievement and enjoyment and will certainly be an event not to be missed.
When the women’s section was first set up back in 1986 Richmond FC were delighted to welcome us on board and we’ve been grateful for their support ever since.”
The event is being run by a committee of all the club’s past chairs and if you or anyone you know have played for Richmond WRFC in the past two decades they would love to add you to their records and put your name on the guest list. Please send names and contact details to RichmondWRFC@aol.com.
