Due to the fact that the Womens World Cup will take place in 2006, the RFUW performance Department have removed all Team England Elite Squad (44 Players) from domestic club competition for the 2005-06 season.
This will therefore also apply to the University playing and competition programme.
Each player will be allocated a Player Development Coach that will determine an individual playing programme that is specifically appropriate whilst taking into consideration the following:
- Competition/training needs
- Playing status
- Injury status
The aim of this structure is to ensure that every elite player has access to the appropriate level of competition and training in order to create the best possible performance levels for the Womens World Cup 2006.
The planning of this programme will primarily be led by the player and their PDC but will include communication with the University if appropriate.
It should be known that it will be highly unlikely that any student player selected within the Team England Elite Squad will be available to play for the majority of University fixtures. If there are any further queries regarding individual player programmes or implications on student sports scholarships please contact Nicky Ponsford, RFUW World Class Programmes Manager on 07976 056571 or nickyponsford@rfu.com |
