Tamar Cup Cornwall U14 v Devon U14

Both teams looked nervous as the ran on to the pitch. After having played
together as a squad and with the home crowd behind them Cornwall got off to
a good start, this being Devons first game they knew they would be up
against it.
Cornwall scored the 1st try but the conversion was unsuccessful.

Devon kept their heads up, with strong defending and team communication
broke at half time only 5 points down.

An encouraging teamtalk by their captain and coach at half time raised
confidence and Devon came back with very positive play, winning line out
play and with excellent rucking and malling from a strong pack gathering
Cornwalls loose ball went on to score their 1st try which was confidently
converted.

With renewed  confidence Devon continued their attack on the Cornwall
defense, but Cornwall saw a gap in the line and broke through to score, this
was converted successfully.

Devon regathered remaining positive and determind they restarted chasing the
ball hard. After winning the ball the pack worked hard to retain possession
feeding the backline who with desisive passing and co-ordinated set play
continually attacked the Cornwall defense inching their way towards the try
line.

Determination paid off with Cornwalls srum fading Devons pack edge the ball
to within yards of the line. The ball was taken from the pack and swiftly
passed to the backs who dived over the try line to score.
The scores now 12 - 12 the game would be decided on the conversion which
with a confident kick was sent sailing over the post to the cheers of the
Devon crowd.
