Supermarine Ladies 38 – Redruth Ladies 7

The first game of the new year saw Supermarine Ladies further strengthen their leading position in the South West 1 league table, with a home win against Redruth Ladies.

The first ten minutes of the game saw Redruth begin strongly and immediately capitalise on their advantage by scoring a try under the posts and converting it. Undeterred, Supermarine then calmed down their game to produce some very good phases of play. Excellent rucking from the forwards saw Supermarine dominating at the breakdowns, then finally passing out to the back line to run in same hard earned try’s.

The second half began with the same determination by Supermarine to play to their strengths. Some solid scrummaging by Marine soon saw them within sight of Redruths try line. Good defensive work by Redruth caused Supermarine to be unable to make any headway. Eventually Supermarine Scrum Half Theresa Bickell was able to score the try that was so hard worked for.

Natalie Williams continued her fine kicking form by converting four of the six tries scored.
